Thread: Wookiee Armor Hole, please fix?

Ok, ever since the ceremonial armor came out I've experienced armorholes happen with wookiee armor. The first times it happened was when Krayts one-hit killed me (on health)even though I was wearing 50+% kinetic armor. I filed a ticket, CSR asked me if I had all four pieces armor on, and if none were broke. After double-checking I answered that it was all fully operational. The answer I got then was that the ceremonial armor was not made to protect wookiees (?!).

So I go out again, got one-hit killed again (on health ofc). This time I check my combat log and I find several hits where my armor did not resist anything. My guildmates told me it might be that krayts does blast damage on specials (which ceremonial is vulnerable to).

Then our new armor came out. I got myself a 80/81 hunting armor set, and went krayt hunting. BOOM! one-hit killed again (guess where). I file a new ticket, since there can't be any other explenation that there's a hole. CSR tells me to /bug it. Then I speak to a CSR today, and she had no knowledge about this isssue.

Can we please get an answer if this is an intentional hole or not. It ALWAYS hit on health. I've had it happen hunting anything from nunas to krayts. And if it is intentional, why doesn't trandosians get the same hole? they lack the same armor spots.

I've filed 2 bug reports about this, one before and one after the two new sets. I'm getting really tired of being shut out of high-end places like the Corellian Corvette and Death Watch Bunker, since even when I'm fully buffed and armored I can easily get one-shot killed (even with a synthsteak in my stomach if they do a nasty special).

From the Knowledge Base:
Single pieces of Kashyyykian Ceremonial Wookiee Armor can cover various equipment locations. The Chestplate affords protection to the Head, Chest and both Biceps. The bracers protect the left and right forearm. The Kashyyykian Legs protect only the legs. If a full set of Kashyyykian Armor is worn, both the hands location and the feet location remain vulnerable. The graphics of the biceps appear to cover the hands, however they do not and the glove slot is not occupied by them.

I hear ya, but please explain to me why I never get a hole on action, and why trandosians who also don't have protection for hands and feet never get armorholes.

Okay, so you believe it is intended that we have a large, gaping hole in our defenses. Then why did they also find it necessary to increase the encumberance of our armor to be "more inline with Composite armor", which has no such weaknesses?

I can buy one or the other, but not both. If I am supposed to run around with heavy armor that I have to buff to even put on,and still be vulnerable to one-shot kills, then something is wrong. There is no benefit here that outweighs the drawbacks.

Has this happened to other wookiees that you know of? This is the first time I've heard a wookiee think the armor had a hole in it.

Let me try and find the screenshot I took. If I don't have a screenshot, then I can make one.

Against Mokk, I have found that the Hunting armor is bypassed quite frequently. And it is always a health hit. I have never had a hit to my action or my mind bypass defenses.

I am on TC right now, so I will have to patch back to live toverify the armor hole if I don't already have ascreenshot.

Ive had my action hit through the hole...so to speak.

As far as the Trandoshan problem, that is specific to Composite, and it appears to have been fixed in either 9.2 or 9.3 (according to a Trando friend). This is all speculation, but its my best guess as to what happened. There was a hole in the Composite armor that could not be fixed. As a stopgap, they coded it so that any damage that was going through the armor, but not a vuln, would get redirected to another slot. This is why we saw people able to be fully armored with just gloves, boots, chest, and helm (and it was only affecting Composite from what I understand). So for a while, the Trandos were fully armored (but again, it seems to have been fixed.)

Id hardly call it a "large, gaping hole" as we are talking about 2 spots out of 9 targetable areas...and I might have one out of 20 or more hits actually make it through.

As far as the increase of HAM, well, the Trandoshan have to deal with it...why not us? And I call having 19 out of 20 hits blocked as a huge benefit as Ive been a Wookiee since release. Hell, I was happy with Ceremonial armor.

It happens to me nightly, and I am unaware of *ANY* Wookiee that has never had this happen. It's intended as the Knowledge Base points out.

I've seen that bit from the knowledge base been used before. But I don't see it as enough proof. It does not explain things good enough.

When I spoke to the CSR (which was one of who actually seemed to know abit) she couldn't tell me if it was intentional or not. I would think she would be able to if it was intentional. Anyways, she told me to look for either Dev or Correspondent answers on the issue. I have seen none, so I try to bring it up again.

The response from the knowledge base is correct. Currently Wookiees are vulnerable to shots that hit their hands and feet. The "reverse armor hole" may or may not havebeen a stopgap fix for some of the other races (and the main armor hole)- I'munclear on this point, but I canask. The devs are aware of this imbalance between the races and will hopefully be able to work out a fix for it at some point in the future.

It is a large, gaping hole because a shot to the hand is equal to a shot to the chest. When you are fighting something that does 320 points of damage regularly because of your armor, and then suddenly you are hit for 1600 points of damage, then you have a big, gaping hole in your defenses.

As far as the increase of HAM, well, the Trandoshan have to deal with it...why not us? And I call having 19 out of 20 hits blocked as a huge benefit as Ive been a Wookiee since release. Hell, I was happy with Ceremonial armor.

The cup is half full, eh? I doubt the Trandoshans are happy about being less effective than every other race besides us, if that is indeed the case. I haven't played as a Dosh and quite frankly if they have large, gaping holes in their defenses then I think that is also a problem.

If there was an uneven distribution ofdamage to different extremities, i.e. the foot didn't equal the chest, then you wouldn't get much of an argument out of me. But right now all it amounts to is 78% coverage of your HAM pools instead of 100% because of what translates to a graphic difference on the battlefield.

I was a Wookiee in Beta, I madea Wookiee as soon as the game went live and I could log in, and I am a Wookiee now. Compared to nothing at all, sure, its great. But the point of putting the stuff in the game was to make us competitive on the battlefield, not just to make us competitive against Trandoshans.

All hail the mighty and infallible knowledge base, which contains all truth. Okay, that was just a jab, but come on. Just because it is intended doesn't mean I can't try and change someone's mind about it. The reason we thought it was a hole is because it doesn't make enough sense for it to be unquestionable.

have not noticed a hole myself. or at least where it made difference. but did notice where when shot in chest damage mitagated was less than it should have been. my base is 83% so say shot for 1000 dam 170 gets though (ar1 or higher ranged weapon)

but I noticed on a few shots over 20% got though not sure what going on need to really go over combat logs completely

How is that less than should have been?
