Unlike the Assembly stage which no longer has Critical Failures, the Experimentation stage of crafting still has a Critical Failure cycle which will pop up sooner or later, regardless if you are a 13 point Artisan or a Novice. It's hard to track that cycle. For the most part, I use my schematics and factories to mass produce my tools, vehicles etc. But I still do quite a bit of piece work. The only time that I use Bespin Port is when I make an AV21, especially if I make it for someone else. I drink it before I fill in any experimentation slots and then in-between as well. My greatest success has been to fill in 3 slots at a time until I run out of bars. Makes for a tipsy Artisan but a happy one when it's possible to jack the durability up to 99% without failures. So far so good, don't know if the wine did it or it wasn't time for my Critical Failure cycle.

uh...i beg to differ but the critical failure is back. i cannot document it but i got a critical failure when crafting and it set me back on my experimentations. i think i have even gotten a critical failure on assembly...again i do not have any documentation but i am sure i have seen them but gave them no more attention then SOE fixing the game.
I'm a master armorsmith. With the CU armor you do a lot of hand crafting. Approximately 7% of the armor pieces I attempt to craft are completely ruined by critical failures, another 7% or so have their maximum condition severely limited.
I'm not convinced that bespin port, crafting tool quality, or crafting station matter in the slightest. I have 15.00 tools, 44.xx station, and craft in a research center while drinking bespin port. Even with all of these I lose 1 piece of armor and damage another per 2 suits, that's2 out of 14. If I'm lucky the damaged piece won't be a helmet or legs (I destroydamaged helmet or legs because they already wear out faster).
I think it works sometimes, and doesn't others...
I was making a Deep Crust Chemical Extractor with the same resources as always (and never have trouble getting BER 13) and I drank my Bespin Port...and bluh....a worthless BER 12 Deep Crust Chemical Extractor
90% of the time I get a great success even if I'm not wearing any clothing, no insp buff, no food, no drink

Hey ShannOw, I remember when I first started, I read somewhere that if you're at max Crafting Skill Points, in all catagories including Experimentation, the chance for critical failure is still around 5%. I"d like to knowif you're getting the failures during the Experimentation or Assemblystage ( the first step after you put the resources in the boxes ), or both. A 7% failure rate is pretty high imo and it averages to 1 failure in about 14 pieces of armor that you make. LikeI said, it's hard to trackand if it's based on random crafting sessions, you may well get all 7 failures pretty close together hopefully followed by a long period of successful sessions.

Not necessasarily true. The failure rate would depend a lot on how many times he experiments each piece. If he is doing it in smaller chunks, the rate of failure would be a lot lower than if he was just using all his points at once for one experiment per piece.
Disagree with this. The greater the number of times u experiment on one piece the more complexity it adds, making subsequent crafting experimentations less likely to be successful. If ur not convinced then spend all point in 2 experiments and then do another craft with 3 make a factory run and notice that the time to craft has gone up. Its more likely to get all amazings if u experiment with up to 6 points at a time than one point at a time.
Absolutely works...I wouldn't craft without it and go through it by the case....just wish my BE could get it to 20 filling (instead of 21) so I could get that extra experimentation in before I'm full.![]()
