I had to get all encumb slices to be able to wear my padded unbuffed. At least I don't look like a comp clone.
It hurts when I drive by NPC:s with guns though.

my best mabari turns out 53% heat, the legs have diffrent special, dont really remember
my best chitin turned out 63% kinetic, so really nice to grind for beginners, condition is around 20k i think
my padded has 62 kin, 62 energy, 48 base, high encumcrance though. this is nice for crafters to go feed harvs and stuff.

The problem with chitin and the lesser armors is that it really costs more to manufacture than the better armors, once you have your stockpile. When you have millions of inorganic resources it is the hides that hurt, and low-level armor uses a lot of hides. Composite is really the best armor to make since it only uses one generic hide...

It never fails to get a comment when I mention that I've played almost a year and still am on my new player exemption regarding decay.

for now. but soon enough not everyone will be able to wear comp.
I have also recently started experimenting with every type of armor to see what kinda stats i can get.
here's what i got so far.
Wookie hunt 80kin/80energy/13stun/68 base
Padded80 energy/22blast/52base (put rest into hams rather than blast)
Bone Armor 40 energy/18 electric
Mabari 5 Blast/31 Heat/27 Base
Chitin 51 Kinetic/30 Base
Tantel 22% across the board
Not sure how these compare to others on Bloodfin but interested to see what others can do and as I hopefully improve, i'll post my updated stats.
Lemme hear what ya'll are making. Come on...

Stuck working third shift so i thought id bring this thread back from the dead.
My krayt scaled mabari is 14% kinectic and total suit HAM is 60 which for my unbuffed ranger alt is all he wears. It also ended up with 14k durability.
Made a set of chitin the other night without loot parts that was 65% kinectic

I make adv padded armor at 80 kin 51 base. I make chittin armor at 70 kin as well. My hunter wookie armor is 80 kin 65 base atm, but my materials stink too. I also make tantel armor at 30 base with saber resist(and the saber resist sticks after crossing server line too). I dont think the saber resist actually works, but it still stays on the armor which is kewl. My bone armor is around 30ish on bases, but im gonna make up some new geo looted bone to see what i get.
