from what Ive seen, it is a random spawn from some lairs, however, there is a static spawn around a house that is located on the plain just above the corsairs stronghold poi. I do not know the exact wp, but its not too hard to find. Not sure of the % of time it drops the hides either. If its like the kimo scales, then its not very often.

Look for 'pile of rocks' lair. I never had a Gurk King spawn from a 'nest' lair, even if I ca, be wrong. And no, Gurk King don't spawn from missions lairs.
