Re'ing takes the best stats from all the components and creates an uber component with a 6% bonus. For general purpose work the best rebel ships are the awing if you like speed and the xwing for firepower, the bwing works wonders on gunships durring the vett runs. Finaly dont bother trying to get behind players in PVP, imp craft can out turn you easily. lure them into jousting(repeted head to head runs).
Its also not always a 6% bonus... It depends on the level of the components that you are reverse engineering.
Until a while ago i thought it was simply the level in percent (i.e. 6% increase for reverse engineering lvl 6 components) but as Tomo reverse engineered my Capacitor he told me it was just 4% for level 6 ![]()
You are right about not trying to get behind players in PvP as it won't happen. Most light ships with a good engine will be able to face you most of the time. Outturning mostly depends on the pilot though as turning on 3 axis' will be more effective than on just 2 or even 1 axis.
In PvP you should also watch out to always fly evasive maneuvers (barrel rolls) because two shots can end the fight. Good pilots will manage to hold out for quite some time though without dying ![]()

While your right about the xwing being able to manuver as well as the interceper/advanced only an idiot wold take one of those into PVP, the advanced has only what 70-80 k mass, while the agressor has almost twice that with a higher top speed and is at least as manuverable, and dont get me started on the opressor. Besides this was just the way i have had the most success, everyone has their own method that works besto for them.

1: Advanced has 65k mass.
2: The agressor is slower than the advanced, half as maneuverable, and only has 1 forward gun. The oppressor is slower still and less maneuverable.
3: I must be an idiot cause I regurlary pvp in an X-wing. Doesnt seem to stop me killing most imp players I run across. Guess I must be a really lucky idiot...

Hookay... if you say so....

Um...I'd suggest you spend a bit more time flying an X-wing against TIE Advanced and TIE Interceptors before you make a judgement like that. Brights and squints are damned capable craft, believe you me.

With the CU coming it looks like i'll be spending most of my time in space.
whats a good ship for a master rebel pilot?
Personally, the onlyRebel ship that puts me on edge is an X-Wing. In the hands of a good pilot any ship can be a threat. But X-wings are evil. IMHO
How do you get behind an enemy in pvp? they always beat me to that...
Each PVP battle will be different. That's the beauty of JTL. No templates. You can't get a good pilot off Ebay and start racking up wins. Each pilot thinks differently. Each pilot has a different load out. The good pilots will fly to their strengths and weaknesses so their loadout will reflect that. Trying to out turn some may work. Trying to joust another might work. But sometimes you'll try to out turn someone and get lit up. You may try to joust with an Oppressor that is packing twin 4K+ max damage guns and you'll get hit so hard you won't even get the cut scene of your ship blowing up.
The key is to develop a solid style that works for you. Get with another pilot and do some mock dogfights. Play tag. Learn how to manuver. Learn how to zig when the bogie zags. Learn how to "shake and bake". Learn the power of astroids, debris, and other bits of space junk. Know your ship. know it well. Try to learn your enemy. And most important...for the love of god...STAY ALERT!!!!
There is a science and an art to dogfighting. It will take time.
