My time is very limited so I dont want to spend all my time crafting and running factories. For the longest time I was a solo master armorsmith, all resources gathered by me, including hides. After i made a few million I was able to buy hides and get some good hunters on retainer.

I had a vendor at one time, I "apprenticed" one of the top 2 Armorsmiths on Corbantis(Wrae). She had the merchant training to advertise on the map and got great word of mouth. She only made composite so I made the 'lesser' armors, specializing in ubese and chitin. When she joined up with the other top smith on our server I declined to go along, for just keeping the one vendor stocked was rough for me being solo.

In the time I was at her shop on Naboo, and my house on corellia next to one of our servers larger guilds(HVND) I built up a loyal following of customers. I had to of course charge less than the "big" smiths while paying the same CPU for hide so my profit margin was slim. But I managed, and I joined a few guilds as their armorsmith, but it never worked out for various reasons but I still get customers from them by offering discounts to my former guildies. I also offered lifetime free repairs on all my armor and free replacement if I failed on a repair.

I joined an elite guild(TKDS) as one of 2 armorsmiths. I provide them free armor, the offer their lots to get resources for me and the hunters gather any hide i request for free. I still sell to my devoted customers and greatly reduced rates compared to other smiths, one even called me "the best kept secret" on corbantis becuase Ive been an AS since release and have a outstanding surplus of great resources to craft a high quality of armor.

So Ive have only 20 mil or so in credits with prolly 300mil or more in resources, but thats not bad considering Im a part time crafter with no advertising exept word of mouth and living on the backwater of Rori.

Weeelll, my armorsmith on Intrepid earned whatever she stocked that day ( my vendor always sold out within 12 hours of stocking). 2 days later, she'd spend every credit on yet more resources. When I started Chimaera, I knew I couldn't start as yet another armorsmith. It was obvious early on, that we would have a glut of crafters. I still chased the resource shifts from habit. I now have a healthy stockpile there. I can grind weaponsmith there in acouple days, and compete straight out the gate. HOWEVER, there is still a huge glut. I have also realized you can only chase so many shifts. I don't want to give up master ranger, either.

I joined test center, after I discovered it had an economy compatible to my play style. I was the cheapest master on Intrepid, and took the heat for it from time to time. The most my smith had in cash at any time was 50 million. Average for her was around 3 million. However, I could have crashed the resource economy for a whole... week! ( inside joke on Intrepid, one master said he could crash the economy all by himself). I literally had at least 500 million in resources, and I gave away every bit of it. I had to lot swap to hold it all, and still didn't have any lots left for harvesting, and only 3 factories running.

On test, I don't get flamed for ruining things, for selling maberi suits for 1.5k ( throw in a backpack for free). It's a totally different mindset. You don't craft for major profits, you craft to keep above water, and still provide things for players. I'm sure Flynn ain't hurting, but he has to work his butt off to get it. I still run missions to pay for maint, power, etc. ( Sales are eratic on armor, I'm betting patch day I'll get another glut).

I dropped master on Intrepid, after leveling on test. I had to make a choice. Resource chasing on 3 different servers is impossible, even for a powergamer. 3 slots means it's easier to be self sufficient there ( ranger character, and a smith/tailor/merch char)

Taking all the above in, take a wild guess who my richest character is?Yep, the master ranger. AND she doesn't have to chase shifts if she doesn't want to. She also doesn't have to play often. She can harvest anytime, and there is always something in shift that someone needs. Don't take up armorsmithing only for the credits. You'll burn out fast, and become bitter. ANY playstyle can make cash, just figure out yours.

That you said on the end is so true

well in my shop not much i am not like some of these other armorsmiths in this game. I provide good armor at any stats for a set price not matter what. my adv. comp. goes for 95k not matter the stats and i get stats from 69 to 64 base and 80 kin. my ubese goes for 25k and padded 45k. I dont think you have to give up your first born to wear armor that is why i do this. and people do know about my armor in brea i have seen it every where and am happy people are getting the protection they need and a fraction of the cost of other a.s. out there. So that is my take from day to day.

yea, there's still some of us out there. I average about 1 mil profit a week, but that also includes profit on BE clothing, and my partner's Medical business. I used to have my armor priced even lower, but I'm trying to get some armor exp skill tapes.. and every time I think I can get some, someone comes along and offers a bazilion credits and out bids me.. Emily, no offense, but you aren't really allowed to rant for this. You know that you sell your stuff for way less thanmost others do, and you do this willingly. That is your choice, and it gives you the most enjoyment in the game, and therfore you can't really complain when the only reason you can't afford those tapes is your own personal choice. Right?

That others get more enjoyment out of charging more for their suits is their choice as well. Part of your decision to charge less means that you are willingly sacrificing some of the benefits that charging more could get you because the enjoyment you get out of chargingless is more than the enjoyment you would get out of being able to afford these items. If it is not, I suggest you further raise your prices until you strike that balance, but you can't logically rant at someone else for already finding that balance for themselves.

I make very little. I make just enough to float. It's my choice though, I don't enjoy running a toon business. I don't advertise my business spamming Coronet. My business is a tiny little town out in nowheresville. I leave a vendor up more or less for the hell of it, just somewhere to stick old stock that neither me nor my friends want anymore (because we have my shiny new low enc NS 90% resist run), or failed experiments/poor slices.

I'm also the sort of player that likes to get everything himself. Giant Dune Kimo Scale? I'm goin' hunting. Need quality materials? I'll scan the planets for months and months instead of buying (mostly). I'm the sort that makes armor to make armor. I'm playing around with Padded and pursuing making RIS... 'cause its good value for the effort? Wicked armor? Nope... just 'cause I want to make a good suit of Padded and I'd like some RIS.

Just my play style. Maybe some day I'll get bored of that, and think it would be fun to see how high I could get the credit odometer. Definitely not yet though... heck, I kind of pine for the days of the starter character, no vehicle, no crates of brandy, no houses, no buffs just to visit my harvesters... just me and my survival knife. Those were the days... I really shouldstart another alt

I generally enjoy the travelling more than the destination... not always of course, but 90% of the time. That person that made that 0 enc comp bracer 80% base, that was awesome... just because it was cool.

Why in the name of all that is Star Wars am I going of on this tangent? Ignore everything after the first sentence... gawd, I sound like my grandpa... must get a life...

First of all, you got the wrong person. Was me, not Emily.

And I can always rant... I can't complain, but I can rant... ranting is much more pointless than complaining.

I don't make much money, I built suits for my friends and myself, and sell the bad sliced armor pieces on the vendors for very cheap price. I make 5k to 30k per week and i really don't care about it much. I have two accounts and 14 millions in the bank between two characters. I have found making armor not as fun as going out and killing things. But it's pretty nice to make your own set of armor and not to have spend big bucks for it. If I need the money, I can loot AV21 powerplants and schematic then sell for 3+ millions per vehicle, or make DXR6b rifle for 200k a pop (My crafter is a master armorsmith + master weaponsmith). It took a month for my crafter to make 10 millions, after that, life is pretty relax and lay back.

I have two Fusion Gens currently harvest power, I also have 30 harvestor deedswaiting for uber resource spawn. friends usually gave me lotshides so i don't need to worry about that just yet.

I figured i work too much in real life, didn't want to work again in a game.

I sell as much armor as I can make. I used to make it by the peice/suit. Did some small factory runs, sold all of that, Just did a large factory run and sold all that. I had a small setback but am strating to load up for another large factory run. I run 5 factories, load half a suit at a time. I went from small guild AS, to large citywide AS.

how much money I make? no clue, i spend it as fast as it comes in....lol

That is not communism, it's just price fixing. Communism would be to sell for what you need to make more armor. and for everything you need, but no pure profit.
