for whoever said the GDK is untrackable, this is simply not true, probably just some bad luck on spawns. I see them up on track all the time ... yes GDK and not just normal Kimo's... I think I even have a screenshot with one on track.
0 kills myself, was spending time on lok running missions/killing gurk kings. I'm curious as well if a BH can take one out =P 100% acid resists is a real bear though.

Kimo town Kills: 163 Scales: 0
Random spawns :5Scales: 0
Im about ready to give up, im a master doc/rifleman and all i wanted was an RIS helm so i went and got a harrower bone (easy) then I went and collected many gurk hides (extremely easy) and now ive been tryign to geta kimo scale for 3 weeks and with no luck. I don't undestand it one bit.

Prepare the pitchforks and torches... buddy of mine went out 2 days ago and killed 3 and got 2 scales.

I lost count of my kimo town / wild ratio
all i see now and in my sleep is sand.
I camped the GDK at kimo town yesterday and got every kill from server start till server shutdown and i didnt even get bone armor scales.
I couldnt find any wild ones yesterday. I think i need to get a x34 speeder because maybe my Av-21 is too fast and missing the spawns.

Since we started counting we've killed 15 and got 1 scale. (From Kimo Town)
Estimate of total kills? 50+ easilly.
Edit : Kimo Town drop was just over a week ago for those that care

74 kills (or thereabouts)... 0 scales.
Yesterday, the 3rd one I dropped I got a complete loot and freaked out...
Turns out I just got some base armor segments. Blah.
