Thread: The Grind

I enjoy trying the professions the holocron gives, but what about when its done giving hints?

My problem with the system is that it is exactly the two things the Devs said it wouldn't be: Random, and Time Based.

Because everyone has different professions to master, everyone DOES NOT have the same chance to unlock the slot. As seen by the Jedi who unlock with only starter professions. This makes the selection of Jedi essentially random, and skewed toward people who needed starter professions to unlock.

Since we have pretty much been told that professions are the key, time is the only factor stopping people from being Jedi. Simply grind, grind, grind and your slot will open. All that takes is Time.

Therefore, one could say that to unlock your slot, you must play a random ammount of time...

I am definently gonna have to agree with this post. Before holo's i was master commando, novice medic and 2-1-0-0 CH, and I could basically solo many things in the game. I was getting kinda bored cause I had done everything I had wanted...no I hadn't gotten all the badges or visited every POI or done every mission, but seriouly who wants to do all that, because there is no real reward. When I got my first holo it said to be a droid engineer, and well lets just say I was kinda upset having to drop most commando, medic and all CH skills in order to do this. I grinded out DE in about 4 hours but I have to admit I enjoyed experiencing another part of the game. As i was getting towards the end of DE i really started to get excited to see what my next proffession would be because when doing them I actually feel like i am working towards a tangible goal, whereas most other things in the game don't really have much of a reward other than saying you did it.

My next Holo was Carbineer and this was kind of a drag because my preferred combat proffession was commando, but I did like all the utility type skills of the carbineer. My third Holo was master CH and to be honest, i was thrilled. I had always liked the CH proffession and now having to master it is going to be one of the most fun things I have done yet in the game. Even though it may take a while I will enjoy the progression of of gaining more pets, and better ones. I also kinda hope that after I master it I will get my FS slot cause I was going to be a Master CH + Grenadeer + novice medic once I opened my slot so I could solo krayts for pearls (even though this won't be possible soon). To sum up, Holo's force you to experience a lot of aspects of the game, which doesn't really ever happen in other MMO's so I am having fun on the journey there. This has really been the first thing in game that takes a lot of effort to reach but has a great reward in the end. It is almost like an epic quest in other games and I am enjoying the journey there

Is there another place to pickup Missions for INV III and IV that is nearly as convenient as Kaadara?

The reason I ask is that, as a Reb, I am constantly getting scanned by ST's and charged fines. I'm sure it's just a matter a time until I'm turned overt, which normally wouldn't be too bad, except I'm sure it will happen when I'm unbuffed and in a hurry .

Any helpfull options would be appreciated.

Cheers,

So there is a BH terminal and requisite INV III/IV Spynet Op in Dearic?

Mos Eisley is the best city for invest 3 missions by far for a reb. Just as convenient as Kaadara.

I'll give Eisley and DG a shot.

I went to Dearic yesterday, and the Spynet Op on the Balcony in the capitol wouldn't help me.

He kept saying to "Go find a neophyte handler".

It's weird because I have sen him listed as an advanced op in a couple of write-ups.

As a new armorsmith I am finding that the AS grind is disheartning.

When I did the shipwright grind I gatherd my resources and in a day well just did it no macros no fuss no muss.

When I did master artisan same thing gather resources and in less than a day (it isnt elite after all) did the grind.

When I got set to start AS I did the same got the resources in ammounts I had read in the (now I know) out of date stickie and off I went same as before.

This is a whole new world lol I find that nothing gives decent XP it seems.

I have read the stickies I have combed through posts and still no luck on that "magic" grind path (the one that gives the most for every click) Even Ubese shirts when I finaly reach them will be less than 100 xp per item this is WAY below standards for the other proffesions from what I am seeing does this seem odd to anyone else? Or am I just looking at the wrong proffesions to compare it to?

This isnt a thread begging for advice, handouts or nerfs, just an honest question from an honest craftsman.

The loss of armor upgrade kits really killed your low level grinding options. The thought now is do what you have to to get to ubese shirts at 3000. If you aren't hurting for resources, you can grind segments and cores by hand. Slow though since you can't use a macro. Or do a full factory run of segments and then craft cores with a macro.

If you've got a nice stash of resources from your other crafting professions, go ahead and run a bunch of basic recon cores and craft mabari chest plates.
