This has no logical reason though. The sensible thing to have done would have made it so all characters could buy these schematics, and that way they could be either sold to armorsmiths (far less hassle) or we could use our alts to get them. This really just chaps my ass.
Love it or hate it, it's just the way it is. Personally I respecced my main as a master smuggler just to buy the faction for my Armorsmith. Personally it makes sense to me since all recruiter purchased schematics have been this way, just very few available for purchase until now, and even then weren't very necessary at that. Probably the DEVS just didn't want the market to get flooded with schematics or someone hoarding a dozen of each then switch faction and get a dozen more of each. The only thing that makes sense to me is to keep rebels making just rebel armor and imps, imp armor. Otherwise what point would there be and we'd have neutrals making armor for both factions. I'm sure the empire would much prefer that their armor was made by one of their own rather than a rebel, and vice-versa.
After respec is finally over, alot more people are gonna be singing to my tune. I can almost guarantee it.
Chk DEV tracker, they're allowing one final respec, they just havent announced when it will be available yet
Guide to Faction Purchases
Couldn't you take 4000 Smuggler and switch back and forth between factions (keeping points for both around 0-400), buying schemats for both? Seems you could have your vendor stocked w/ both kinds of factional then. I know others have done this w/ smuggler before, but I never heard of it being applied post-cu to armorsmith schematics.
just take your combat toon and /delegate the faction to your alt. If their on the same accoutn all you have to do is log the crafter in for about 5 mins, log him out outside where your combat alt will log in at, log in your combat alt and delegate the faction, should work as your toon that logged off, won't disapear for about 5 mins.
Don't do a /sit and /logout... just SHIFT + ESCAPE and disconnect.

Not enough skill points to fit in with my crafting template.
Well I don't think you're an idiot, but you are doing something wrong. You're paying for an entire other account just to avoid contact with other players in a MMORPG. Instead of trying to get around the system, just find a smuggler and work out a deal. Maybe you can give him a suit or two in exchange for the faction, which would be a big savings for both of you.

Stupid isnt it? Like you I have a 100% crafting toon! I used to use my alt as a master smuggler, but since CU I had to respec him and lost the smuggler skill to buy FP's, now I have to pay a ludicrous amount of money just to buy the schems for this armor.
Why on earth would the DEV's come up with such a stupid idea?! I meanfor goodness sakeif CU wasnt bad enough, they spring this one on us as well!!
At 100cpu for faction and 17k FP per set of 10 schems, that's 1.7mil per set spent. So.. 170k per suit additional. And people are selling them for 1-2mil per suit? Tell me how this is extortion? EVERYONE is getting paid. That's the way it works. If you simply charge 300k per set.. I might understand why AS's would complain. But I've not seen a single AS do that ( myself included ). I sell these at 1.5mil all day long and I make a tidy profit.
If you don't like it, get an alt and go smuggler. I can't really have much sympathy either way.
MyAS is 4000 smuggler. I wanted to sell armor for both factions and it has worked great. I love being able to switch factions and buy my schematics at a moments notice so cheeply. The downside is skill point cost. I don't have enough SP to master artisan or merchant, but that hasn't slowed business. I'm MAS, 0044 merchant, 0200 tailor, 4000 smuggler, 4440 artisan, 4000 brawler, 0400 marksman, and 2000 crafting mastery.
