Thread: WOW HOW HARD IS IT?!!
Yeah colors can be pretty tricky to get right, especially if someone simply says "Red," or "Green." Reason being is that some armorswill have forty shades of each colour whereas others (see 'Chitin') have about 6, or 8 colours that hardly differ from each other and certainly don't look like they did on the colour screen once crafted!
I find it easier for someone to bring something in the right colour(s), perhaps a shirt or boots to match up with (did this a few times with padded armor pre-cu) or they pretty much get what they are given (providing I've at least got the right end of the colour spectrum!).
As long as you match up all the armor pieces (i.e. colours in same places) and the colours are close to what the customer asks for, then I don't see any reason to complain.
BUT don't just accept "Blue on black, please." Ask them exactly which part of the armor they want the colours on, e.g. with padded, there are two choices: the 'padding' which I consider to be the rougher, stitched on looking parts and the 'underlayer' which is the slightly glossier looking fabric underneath.
