but you can substitute the RIS layers with Nightsister layers or janta hides or cubes right?

No, janta hides and cubes both go into different slots. Nightsister layers, RIS layers or any crafted layers fill the layer slot.

My character has a big ol' CL1 altogether. I've been so high as CL3, but never persued the combat route. I want to be RIS certified, but I dont know if I'll be able to do the quest as a CL1. Is there any combat required, or is it all crafting?

just crafting - if you can buy the loot or get someone else ot get it for you. adn a few trips to dant near the abandoned reb base

Thank you for the help. Without giving anything away do you know where to find the person who gives the quest? I have an alt that can get whatever loot is required. I'm already trying to get the peko feathers. The drop rate must be extremely low.

don't remember the exact way but he is perhaps 500-800m north of the abandoned reb base on dantooine in the north West corner of the map. in a small hut halfway up a very steep hill, (almost looking down on the reb base)

Yep pure crafting. Take yourself to -6805 6022 on Dantooine (outside the abandoned reb base poi) Bring 50k and the items to make 1 Ris Segment, followed by 1 Feathered Enhancement, ending with 1 pair o' Ris Boots. You will need 2 GDK hides, 2 Gurk King hides, 2 Woolamander Harrower bones & 1 Peko Peko Albatross feather. Also of course you will want to bring the necessary resources to build the above items and a droid with crafting stations. You can do it all in one trip.
Also, I'd recommend having a rebel pilot friend do the missions out of the poi and fly you there in a multipassenger ship. Doing it that way, you can finish the entire process for certification in about 10 minutes.

Anyone having the Issue where the peko peko feather isnt working in the layer for the quest?

I am an AS but am not RIS certified.Also I have a suit of RIS armor. Would I be able to deconstruct it using the radial menu option and be able to construct it again if I used myown battle cores? Or do I need to take them to a RIS cert AS in order to reconstruct it again?

You won't be able to remake the RIS because you don't have the final appearance schematics.

is it possible to Deconstruct RIS armor and get the Ris Cores Back and then rebuild ??

You get an RIS segment when you break down pre CU RIS. It contains the creature loot (GDK scales, gurk hide, woola shard). None of the other stuff (cubes and layers and whatnot) come back. You just need an RIS segment, battle cores, chromium aluminum, Taluisian fiberplast, and synthetic cloth to make a piece of RIS.
