I just did some math... ok to do a run of 333 suits of the hunting armor heres my costs just to get what i need...

Adv. Segment

25000 units of Dath Leathery hide... Humm... Ok thats around 50 credits a unit = 1.25 million just for the 25k needed

16000 units of Dant Avain bone (dont know, whats avian on dantooine)

8000 units of Yavin Evergreen (thats a harveser for a shift so thats 20k in cash and 18k in power)

1000 layers to make the layred armor...

thats 1000 segments so thats several days of factory time and maintance

then the armor itself uses

333 suits will be

33300 units of Dath Evergreen wood (see yavin evergreen for costs)

33300 units of Lokian leather hides at 50 credits a unit again 1.25 million

26640 units of Tat. Wooly hides at 100 credits a unit (because its wooly hide) thats 2.664 million

Oh and I forgot that the armor paddings are being used again...

For me to even be able to recover losses off of the hide requirements alone on this armor I will have to charge around 300 to 400k a suit... and thats starting off... let alone waiting for good spawns of resouces...

So by the time its all finished a suit will have to be sold at around 500k just to make any money back with these resouce requirements..

the Got Milk is the understatement of the month...

Why in gods name would I want to do all that? That is an insane amount of resources. I love my profession and have been doing it for awhile, but come on, i'm not a masocist.

As a wookie I protest. I understand most of the material should be organic in nature, but the named resources are ridiculous. The reason we dont see as much padded armor is that is requires lok leather and yavian wooly that rarely spawn with good stats. The DEVs don't seem to understand that the organically harvested market(hide, meat, and bone) just cannot supply material in sufficient quantity to keep the prices affordable by most players. 150 CPU for great avian meat and 120k for great wooly hide has become normal. Most spawns of hide are sub standard. I see a couple solutions.

1. increase the quality and quantity of hides, meat, and bone. Actually give rangers a massive bonus to harvesting. They need some love

2. reduce the number of named resources. tracking down required named resources becomes a full time job. The more I spend looking for a resource = less time with my buds = less entertainment.

3. add farms to the game. The idea is being floated on the ranger forum.

4. Ask your armorsmiths what they think is the best approach to creating new armor and resource requirements. We (I am a WookieAS/WS/DE) know better than the DEVS how to make the profession work. I bet we could come up with a great idea to get away from the composite cookie cutter look. Easy solution is to cert composite at master level combat professions.

Possibly the rarity is the method they used to justify giving wookies composite level armor on top of the ham bonus.

darngollyjeez. I got one starred by the whiners.

Instead of starting an outright bitchfest in here. Go join TC and help test the armor.

I can understand how ppl feel about the scouting community not being able to fill the needs of all artisans, but that's do to a shortage of rangers, not poor armor design. You guys should throw some support behind the rangers for their revamp requests.

I'm actually hoping that the revamp results in a removal of these armors. The game that I signed up to play was supposed to have tough wookies with no armor. I'd like to see armor take a big nerf and for wookies to get tougher to keep up.

good math

I will prob be charging 500k-1 mill for initial suits for sure till I get some more resources. Also wookies who bring me stuff get discounts.

And yes, I am thinking on our server 500k to break even per suit is realistic (well, prob not that high, but at least till initail rush is over)

You got one stared for your poor handling of a question, not because anyone disagreed with you.

Are you an armorsmith? Do you inderstand why a lot of the armors are not made? We canstand behindthe scout/ranger community till we are blue in the face, but even they can't handle quantites as large as this.

I am fully behind new armor, but this is going the opposite way all of armorsmiths wanted it to.

Couple of things:

1. Yep, it's a major pain in the ass but it is really more of a pain in the ass than that first while when you're starting up? I don't think it's really that tough.

2. As long as wood as a main component you're not going to see this catch up to comp ever. I saw this somewhere before but aren't wookies supposed to be able to build starships? What the hell are they doing putting wood in their armor?

3. I think it will allow more diversity in our profession. (that's a good thing, folks) I can see people making a living as a master armorsmith who only sells wookie armor and ubese.

4. Yes, it's a pain right now and I think most established smiths won't even bother. It might however be nice down the road espeically for up and coming smiths.

5. Although I do feel for the wookies, I don't believe the armor should suddenly appear and immediately be competitive with armor that has been being made for 1 year.

That's my relatively postive spin on this.

Don't talk about the HAM bonus wookiee's get like it's some gigantic gulf that people must work hard to equalize. I see masterdoctors sitting outside the starport in Coronet administering buffs to a line 20 people long just RAKING in the cash. Not too mention food and spice aswell for buffing purposes. When I first starting playing, as a wookiee, I was under the impression that we would never really get any armor...and I'm still playing in that fashion.

I would be happy with something simple, but not necessarily primitive looking. All of our clothing and armor does not need to look like it's been sewn together with yarn and was made on accident when we fell out of a tree and everything we hit on the way down became our armor. Also, what kind of self respecting wookiee wears a feather in his hat...we're wookiees, not a scarlet pimpernel prancing and preening at a party like some trussed up peacock.

I'd love to see some very simple plated armor...strapped on the thighs and lower legs, the upper and lower arms, and maybe a chest plate for a simple armor. Also, don't attack the headpiece to the chest piece or chest to upper arms...because I would rather find my characters appearance pleasing, then looking like a walking turd but be protected...and many many others feel the same way...and not just wookiee's.

Doesn't need to have feathers, or clothing flaps bouncing around getting caught in foliage giving away a hunting wookiees position to his quarry. Wookiee's are technilogically advanced and technilogically savy woodsman...think of elves or something, not neanderthals.

Only component really a little complex to get is tat wooly hide...

Lok leathery, Danthomir Leathery and Dantoine Avian bones are kinda easy to get and all drop in mass amounts....

I don't know where you did your maths Skinny but I can see myself breaking even at around 50 to 90k/suit.

Depends what kind of layers I will use.

It will take me a while to get all the stuff needed due to some rl vacations but I can see myself selling it around 200k/suit for the unlayered and up to 300k /suit for the layered stuff...

That is for the hunting armor, don't think I will try to make the others kinds....

It takes 1689 resources to make a set not counting the padding ( forgot how many resources they need). If even all of those were hides and costed 100 cpu per, that is still a far shot from your 500k/suit costs.....

I could prob break even at less than 100k

but.....I did the first batch of wookie armor the day it came out

when that happened I had three factories going on segs and three on padding, I sold it all as fast as I could assemble it, at the time my shop was in a tent and at one time I had 9 wookies in my tent (I have pictures somewhere, it was kind of funny)

those prices are first week only prices, I can almost promise none of the first 50 or so suits I make will last more than an hour or so on my vendors.

I expect to be selling for 200-300k a pop after initial rush. I sell the ceremonial armor for 115k a set and it always sells out, I sell krayt chests that are 61% kinetic for 100k and full krayt suits of ceremonial for 175-200k, so I don't think that a 70-80% kinetic chest will have problems selling for 150-200k for just the chest, and 500k for a full suit.

also armor padding can really drive the price up, each take like 35 hides so six is what 210 hides? that can add up quick if you use nice stuff like eolipi

valcyn only has so many smiths making the 53-54% wookie armor now, and I don't expect more than a handfull of smiths to have the new stuff early on. I guess I am doing my math on a supply vs demand and not based on resource costs.

I think the hunting chest is 1400 or so resources required so even is all resources are 100cpu one sould still make money selling chests at 150k. However I don't have many of these resources, and that is why I overpay. I might pay 20cpu for a resource that is only worth 3-4cpu, but I can get a large stockpile and although my profit margin may go down, at least I am able to produce armor on a larger scale.

as far as I know only Makkir and myself are 12 point smiths making the old wookie armor and havent heard about many others that plan to have the new stuff ready at launch.

so...will do my best to stock it, and yes it may be quite overpriced, but until demand dies down I will need to.
