In point of fact, Composite construction IS boring, for me at least. Layer it as you will, the point of fact remains that NO ONE will ever wear it unbuffed. Shave an encumbrancepoint here or there, it is of no consequence, the armor is simply too heavy. In general, the playerbase appetite for Composite comes in two flavors only...Kin/En layered (PvE), and Stun (PvP) layered. So use Blast, Acid, blah, blah, blah plates all you like, only a very few players will want them. That, again to me, is boring.
Now then, what is exciting to me is this...the 68%kn/48%b set of Raven Black and Pristine White Padded Armor that, with decent encumbrance slice, I can actually wear unbuffed! That was a fun construct my friends. I had 9 identical NS Shards for the Chest and Legs, and various other sets from 4 to 6 pieces for the rest of the armor. Simly put, it looks good. I do make "fashion" grade UltraLight Padded sets (13%) resists haha, for my more frivilous customers. I sell it at 50K (I use standard Padded segments in these), and I custom craft them with crappy resources.

Personally, I feel that my pricing for armor will adjust greatly when good new spawns of some of my more limited materials (that I had to pay upwards of 30 cpu for because of bidding wars) become available.
When I gather enough resources, I have planned on making a run of 250 Kinetic Composite suits and set them at a very reasonable price so I can work on regathering resources for Wookie Armors and most likely keep Wookie Armor as my specialization along with enhanced Composite peices.
When my bank account becomes large enough to allow me to actually purchase the 4 +5 experimentation tapes I need (as a Wookie with only 4 pieces of clothing) that all of the other +12 smiths still feel the need to bid on

Greykyn...
Actually, Kinetic-layered composite is pretty easy to keep light (using 1/1/1 HAM layers) and is quite good for PvE. I'm using some on my alt (80% Kinetic, 64% Base, 333/296/335 (sliced)Total HAM) ...Hmmm...I think I can wear that unbuffed, and it beats the heck out of ubese.
Not to mention...the #1 reason composite is more fashionable than any other armor!!!!
...you can change its' colorAFTER creation!!!! The crowd ROARS!!! hehe
If you only make stun or e/k composite...yeah...I can see how you're getting bored...try a few different setups
Here's a recent one I had a comission for (25 suits):
80% Kinetic
80% Blast
Make it as light as possible

I've done a suit on special order to combat flamethrowers. 80% Heat/Blast/Electric 70% Base. Took a lot of time for just one suit though.
People seem convinced that having a resistance in special resist is better than having the equivalent resist in base, but I'm not. But then there is a lot about armor that is open to interpretation. For example if a suit has a vulnerability, does it take damage if you hit the person wearing it? I know AP and such isn't calculated, so to me it would follow that it just ignores the suit, but others say other things and so on.
I guess basically just give the customer what they want, even if you feel it isn't what they really want.

I think that if you're adding layers...one of two ends should be most desirable...
1) Stun Layers - Effect Slices to get uber base + some stun protection
2) Any other layers - Encumberance Slices to get 80% targetted resistance without stun-suit weight
I'm starting to think that 80% Kinetic and dual-layered suits with 70-71% Base are kinda redundant. Why stop at 80%?...If you're willing to wear all that weight, go for 90% Basewith a Tank set.
I agree with ya, though. Give the customer what they want, as long as they're paying a good price.
