1. As a novice profession, I understand that they shouldn't be huge income earners but give them something more than just 3 vehicles and the occasional controller device to make cash on.

2. more bikes and make it so that better artisans can make better bikes.

This one is EASY!

A full revamp of the armor crafting system. While I like alot of what the art team at SOE came up with (GREAT job on the Black Sun armor guys, and the Padded..Aside from the goofy helmet, hehe) There is only one 'good' armor- composite. Battles have become a mess of composite suited warriors in a mess of colors, it looks like a really bad Guyver fanboi convention with badly fitted suits. Sorry guys..But it's just not Starwars right now. It's a GREAT scifi mmo game..But it's not so hot as a StarWars game. Where's the stars? well..those are coming..But no word on the WARS part.

What I'd suggest (no flames please, but helpful comments would be nice, we're trying to HELP Tiggs here, not make a barbeque.) Is simple really. take away ALL the basic stats of amor, aside from one or two base protections. Chitin could be Kinetic and Blast for example, while Padded might be Blast and Stun, and Composite could be Electrical, Energy, and Kinetic. These values would be LOW, but all base armors would be really low HAM, to compensate. BUT, add in 1 or more layer sockets to ALL armor types, even Mabari and Chitin. This would add special protections, as they do now, raising the HAM cost of the armor, but also it's defenses. The end results though, would be that you would see more variety in armor. Since padded made by a master would be just as good as composite made by a master, you'll see some masters making trademark color padded, others sticking to composite, etc.

The other step, is Canon armors. You know- Stormtroopers. Darktroopers. Tie helmets made by armorsmiths, and suits made by tailors using padded armor segments, that offer a tiny bit of protection. Matching Rebel gear of course.

A simple solution to the market flood, is to add in faction crafter quests, first of all. An Imperial artisan could make a bunch of CDEF rifles, or whatever his class is, and trade them in to a recruiter or other npc for faction points. Say, 1 FP per unit, or similar. Now, he takes those FP, and buys himself a storm trooper helmet schematic, for 2400 fp, or whatever the price is now. He gets a 5 use schematic, rather than a single finished helm, makes a factory run or two of the helms, say a cap of 20 items from a single factory run, and makes a series of imperial helmets.

Allow them to be colored too of course, at SW cons, you see units of all-red storm 'commandos' and of course the classic black stormtrooper commando npcs (I got screens, they DID exist!) plus blue armors, and even metallic colors for masters. Darktrooper armor could require master commando to wear (and ONLY commando, can master another, but one MUST be commando) because they are the elite shock troops.Scout trooper armor would be wearable by anone with Explore 4 perhaps. Stormtrooper armors would require novice marksman, or rifles 4, or carbines 4. Nothing too strict, you want to see MORE stormtroopers, not less.

A short term fix though and less extensive would be theFP crafting idea, faction schematics, and to improve faction gear while nerfing non-faction gear. Make Mandalorian the best armor, period. It's supposed to be ultra rare and uber. The rarity is nicely done, Anyone can attain it, but it's not a handout. But the uber..well..it stinks. lol. It's worse than most padded from the few suits I've seen. (VERy few mind you, could be wrong). Stormtrooper armor should be level with rebel armors. Then composite, padded, etc. Faction armors should ALWAYS be the best, but take out comp-leted suit parts, and add in faction schematics for the armors instead. If you want to see a pack of stormtroopers flooding out of a base, after a rebel raid in commando gear, you got to make that armor the best choice for them. Plain and simple. I'm sure you can relate Tiggs, being a hardcore pvper. Which armor would YOU wear, the 85% composite, or the 40% stormtrooper armor? Maybe you can make the devs see this too- Faction gear should be the best, hands down, no contest. And it should be LESS expensive, not more. Perhaps lower durability, for higher resists, at an equal cost. Something. Just please PLEASE.,..Get the Star Wars back in Galaxies.

You're our only hope!!

LOL. Just kidding TH..I know you tried..Too many bosses and explaining ANYthing to all of them is a practice in futility. But, if we want a GCW, we need to get the Uber dudes into Stormtrooper armor and stuff, and only ONE way to do that...make it the best, and make it readily available. Nuff said.

No I don't have a freakin sig. Just make something up and pretend it's here man. woman. umm...Whatever.

1. Fix the shield generators

2. add player made factional armor

3. give RIS acid and Stun in Base protection and maiby some Limited LS protecion

4. Make Maldalorian colors to pick when crafting it we got a Purple Chestplate and a sand gray Helmet its damn uggly together

I believe that the ability to craft factional armor, such as Stormtrooper suits, should be the number one armorsmith priority as far as the developers are concerned. Although we certainly have issues, as a whole the profession is mostly sound from a technical standpoint. We definitely need more armor options however and would like to start making some Star Wars like items.

The second issue (yeah i know you asked for one), is that there needs to be a clearer progression among armor types, or distinct advantages/disadvanteges to each. Right now, armor doesnt fall into either category. For instance RIS has inherent weaknesses that composite does not, however, it is a progression higher. If you dont want to do either of those two methods, make armor all the same values, and just let people choose how they want to look.

Seriously, careful with this one, almost every profession has their issues stickied at the top of their boards. TH and the gang have promised that these are written on two stone tablets like the ten commandments. The last thing the swg community needs is one more reason not to trust what the devs tell us.

I would start with those before opening a can of worms...er flames.

I am well aware of the sticky issues threads and the excel sheets that ThunderHeart has. The reason(s) I am doing this is 1. to get to know you, 2. get a better feel about your posting styles and 3. Okay, more detail...

1) Vehicles:

A) More vehicle types

B) Multipassenger vehicles

C) Armed vehicles, or vehicular combat

D) Crafting enhancements to vehicles:
i) More experimentation options : Speed, Terrain Neg, Armor, Weapons(if any), HP
ii) Components and such, not just big lumps of metal.

(okay, I'll conform. Reduced to one issue. )

3) Enhance our schematics: We have several of low to no use (the bird cage and creature habitats come to mind). I'd like to see them useful or replaced by useful things, like basic furnature, light sources, etc.

More later.

Furniture and lights?! Hmmm... aren't those things already crafted by another profession? Could it be... Architects? I think Architects need all the biz they can get, don't go poaching!!

Top issues for me:

  1. Vehicles - I'm not sure we need more vehicle styles, but we definitely need a change in how they are crafted. First, should be able to customize the current vehicles in terms of speed, maneuverability, terrain negotiation, etc. Second, they should take more than two chunks of metal to create.

  2. Powerups - The crafting process for powerups needs to be completely revamped. There is too much luck involved. At the master level, an artisan should be able to chose the primary and secondary stat modifiers, leaving only the third (and any additional mods) to luck. Also, there is only one kind of melee powerup, with very limited combinations as to what's available for stat modifiers, compared to6 different types of ranged powerups (and 2 for mines!). Melee characters are probably the most prolific combat characters in the game, yet they have 1 powerup with limited modifiers.

  3. Survey - The range should be increased at master artisan.

That's all I can think of now.

A revamp of speeders please!

I know..but come on. An amazingly complex machine, made from 2 lumps of metal? GEEZ! that's a tad simplistic. PLUS... all 3 are gained at master artisan, what about the other engineering boxes?

I got a suggestion or two here too. Yeah I know I'm long winded, but I think the idea's worthy of being heard, so bear with me? And keep the flames down folks, she DID ask what we thought would be good! lol

Ok, first off, Artisans get a TON of items at master...but most are useless aside from parts for other crafters. An artisan's ONLY profitable item, is a speeder. And all speeders are alike. They all go same speed...Only variation is durability. So, first off make speeders more complex, much more. Chassis for durability. Engines for speed. and, if the engine allows it, steering mechanisms for maneuvering. (a low maneuvering, and your swoop could end up doing circles if you try and turn while taking off, etc. Like a real rocket bike would act, IF it were real). If not... well, 2 parts is better than one big lump. Catch here, is you need the required number of engines, plus a chassis.

Engineering 2. Speeder Bike chassis, Basic engine (as fast as a novice scout burstrunning)

Engineering 3. Speeder Bike deed, Intermediate engine (as fast as a master scout burstrunning), Landspeeder chassis

Engineering 4. Landspeeder deed, Advanced engine (as fast as a kaadu galloping), Swoop bike chassis

Master Artisan. Swoop Bike deed, Experimental engine (as fast as a current speeder), Podracer chassis, Podracer deed

Add a few more speeder types in there in places too of course. Of course, more engines means more power. Since a swoop uses 4 engines, it could go maybe 20% faster than a current swoop, with 4 experimental engines (make these VERY expensive, and prone to decay however, racing stuff isn't made to last a long time, just to be real fast when it does last). A landspeeder, similarly, could be fast with it's 3 engines. A speeder bike, can never get any faster than a current bike of course. Not unbalancing, people running these super fast rides will be sinking a LOT into maintainance, or simply replacing them, though the prices will likelyy rise from the extra complexity. On the flip side, vehicles gain a tad more complexity, and become more of a fun thing to play around with.

oh..and please, Add more vehicles! Even faction ones if possible (a craftable AT-ST or something would be sweet..But would likely take another class to make it balanced, and that's not the thread's purpose, so I'll skip that). But, more speeders, some nice sleek looking bikes and speeders would be nice, something similar to a AV21, but not as durable, etc, for balance reasons. You've made 2 cool new designs.. and then made one uber rare, thanks to looted parts, and made the other only from preorders. We need more vehicles that ANYONE can buy! I'm not saying Uber rides, for everyone. I'm just saying more variety> Remember coruscant in Ep2? All those swoops and speeders flying about? Just get some of those designs from the Lucas archives, and put them in the game or something, lol.

OH. before I forget. Make a new craftable pet for BEs. a tiny little bird. Maybe a few types. 1-3. Not a huge amount. just with bright color options. And allow a deed to be put into that Nemodian birdcage, while crafting it, to have a animated bird in a cage.

Also, allow tamed creatures (not deeds) to be put into new revamped Creature Habitats. these, when placed, would be large cages with the animal inside, a way for a former CH to keep his beloved pets, and the creature could be released from the habitat, turning it into a deed (even if it was wild). Up the costs of the habitats of course, or have various ones at various artisan levels, with different CL limits. Just a way for us former CH to keep our favorite pets with us, and at the same time, give some more business to artisans of all levels.
