You aren't the only one. The problem is, most smiths who feel as you do are essentially being tarred and feathered on the forums.
Rational thought does not exist here - try back again at a later date.
Zion, Does this mean you like the AS changes? Specifically do you like the 1 line of experimentation? (Yes I know there are 2 but honestly 99% of the players don't care about condition so lets leave that one out.)
Hell no, I don't like it. But my point is, if people would actually read my posts in the context that they were written in, they would know that already, AND they would know that I don't wholeheartedly support the CURB, but rather want to find a way to work within the new system rather than trying to replace it.
It's a very nuanced position that walks a fine line. But I think it is a line worth walking, because I feel more can get accomplished that way.

What forum are you reading Zion?
I don't see any AS's getting tarred and feathered for wanting to bring variety and challenges to the AS profession. The curb is preventing variety and a challenge to our community. Then you aren't reading all of the forums, or are at least conveniently ignoring those posts.
I don't see how experimenting Hindrance is "game breaking" if they are mitigated away when you reach master. It would be cool if you lower the movement modifier, but then the accuracy suffers. Its unbalancing and game-breaking on the low end of elite professions. At that point, there are tactical choices to be made regarding the kind of armor you buy - high resist with high hinderance, or low resist with low hinderance. To have High resist with low hinderance at novice screws with the balance of the game.

Fair enough. I too think we can work within the CU confines but also think that experimentation and resource requirements seriously need to be looked at.
Thanks for clarifying.
Agreed - in fact, those were the 2 "AS CURB CONCERNS" as posted by Okram I wholeheartedly agreed with.

I honestly think I'm the only one that likes the certification thing. I hated seeing new players jump in game and grind on Dant when all they had was pistol 1. Never made any sense.
All I want the devs to look at is all the name resources. There is just too many now. We can't serivce all our cutomers if we have to carry 20+ named resources plus all the generic.
I really do think there should be a crafters armor. PSGs will not cut it. Come on, we are supposed to be Master Armorsmiths. We should be able to develop some armor type that even a non fighter could wear.
One line experimentation is just lame. Lame as hell. I make armor that saves lives. This should be complex. Allow me to do more than just raise on set of stats. You used to let me control 3 different lines of experimentation. Armor will always be max base now. Always.
I love this profession more than any I've played in the game. I will never give up, I will make this work.

While the exp line should be a concern i think its nothing in the shadow of level based damage scaling. It makes armor useless for everything but high end mobs and given the way level scales with group members... its may not even be of much use then.

Lack of experimentation used to be my #1 concern, and we had a really nice thread going with alternative solutions.
Now I am more worried about the Level system they use in combat. Testing so far shows that armor makes almost no difference, the deciding factor is your level (or your groups level) vs the level of your NPC/critter. PvP testing have not been performed enough to give a definite answer.
The Level system seems to be fundamentaly flawed, I am not sure tuning will be sufficient to cater the AS community. Since it is an integral part of the CURB it is not likely it will go away, so what do we do?

Now THAT'S that old-time can-do Armorsmith spirit I have been trying to find during these lean times on the forums. Agreed - we will make it work. It might take a bit of doing, some suffering, and a bit of time overall, but in the end, we will find a way and reach a compromise with the devs. That attitude is sorely missing right now.

i have an AS alt
there is no problem with needing new res, we know what it is, hell ive got 10 harvs down on a spawn of pero alum and grav plasts now. AS was getting boring and there was no variety, just comp suits and bone for new players. RIS was fun for a bit and i did get a kick out of making 44% stun but i felt a new challenge was needed.
AS players tend to be some of the richest players on the game bout time things got fairer for everyone. So to all the AS who think the patch will ruin their game, try to see the positives, the dedicated AS will be ok the ones who took it up for easy money might be upset all there res is useless. Most of our res can be reused some of it of course can not. However i say this having an AS and also a ranger as an alt so for me it may be easier, but i still look forward to it. only thing that annoys me is that +2 suits will be less useful
I trust the right changes will be made
