I build my own rigs. Cheaper that way
As I feel Alienware computers are the best OS out there for gaming, i can custome build one for half the price you would pay for one outright. Also a simple chkdisk can solve lots of peoblems you may have with your system. i used to crash allot. Ran the chkdisk and found out a had a corrupted file. This fixed that and no more crashes.

Sounds like harware conflict..
My suggestion.. find out your mother board manufacturer and up date your bios.
a possible reinstall of your OS. then reinstall your new updated drivers.
sometimes updating drivers with out a clean install can leave screwy things espeically with Direct X
Also last thing.. I had this same problem back at launch. This was the only game that cuase my machine to blue screen.. Well i found out later i had a bad stick of ram and this game was the only one stressing the system enough to notice. After 2 months of hell someone suggested it could be a bad stick and sure enough it was.
Hope this helps

I apreaciate the advice here, but if I could direct your troubleshooting comments to my tech support forum post, you will see that I have already tried most of these already.

Did a google Search on it (work for Dell tech support and we use it all the time) found a few posts that all pointed towards what seems to be a problme with overclocking you processor. Found a link to a MS Kb aartical that talks about it some more. I know you have already been told to look at that but not sure if you've seen the link

KB329284
I doubt it is software, almost sounds to me like a problem I used to have on my system, I replaced the Vid card and that resolved the issue, never got a bluescreen error though. How the KB artical helps some.

You don't need 2k for a new computer, 500-1k can get a machine that can easily run SWG. If you build it yourself, you can start with the minium you need then upgrade. You lose a lot of money going the Dell route.edit: Honestly though, after looking at the other post, your computer should be fine. I would bet money it is a memory issue. You have 1028 RAM, but in what makeup? Is it all the same type/brand?My wifes computer does exactly the same thing. It runs fine with 512, but if I add another 512, I get the blue screen of doom as well. The RAM is fine, just for some reason certain RAM combinations don't like to work with SWG on certain motherboards.Message Edited by Straker_Atrella on 06-30-2005 05:01 PM
My (2) 512k sticks, that I have tried each independently with no success, are the same type/speed, but not identical manufacturers. They are both PC400 (at least I think its PC400, it is certainly 400 something)

These days you're not going to save a lot of money rolling your own PC. I work in a computer store (rhymes with BompUSA), and the prices on systems are waaay down. You can pick up a P4 EE or Athlon 64 with a PCI-Express slot for ridiculously cheap and add a better videocard and more RAM and have a good gaming system. It won't be SLI or anything like that, but you said you didn't have a couple of bills to drop on it.
For instance, an eMachine minitower, Athlon 64 3200, 512MB RAM, 160GB HD, with a PCI-express x16 slot for US$ 550. Add another 512MB RAM for $100 & $200 for a video card and you're all set. IT's probably even dual-channel DDR, but I wouldn't swear on it w/o checking.
I would certainly advocate building your own on most occasions for Desktop application, although for many people having a PC professionally put together is important.
My point about buying a Dell or somecrap is about having a PC that WILL work with SWG without odd quirks like not being able to play. My machine should run SWG piece of cake, and I sure wish it would. Thats not too bad a price on the emachines, tho I use those at work...

Dont you mean chkdsk? I ran chkdsk from the Start/Run feature, and it went through a disk scan that I had never tried before, thanks for the tip, I'll do a mega defrag and then give it another chance there.

Thanks for offering some help, tho I have seen that page, and that is about where my ability stops, and the tech guys make their money. I do continue to run my processor with no overclocking tho.

I'm giving it a last go, full hard drive wipe/format and reinstall XP Pro. Wish me luck...
