errr...what if your jedi pulls out a big scary kinetic weapon?

Well a full jedi wouldnt use one very well so no biggie there. A partial template though (Especially say a rifleman with a hyperrifle or a pistoleer or smuggler with a caped out FWG5) Could reap bloody murder. This is why even in PVP I quite happy stick to my almost cap stated assault armro. Yes. I do get my ass totally handed to me by jedi. But with ranged attacks i have a PSG offsetting the -1k energy. And I have little to fear from those sporting really well crafted kinetic weapons (Whcih PSGs do not protect against).

SO overall it works out quite well. But generally speaking for straighto ut jedi hunting. You cant go wrong with fully layered recon. Because it'll be a rare day you see a mark pulling out a weapon that isnt a lightsaber. And most partial templates wont be so hot. And even fewer (who are still grinding out a full jedi template) will kindly wait around and fight you. Most (quite understandably) run. Or try to.

In large scale PVP alot of attacks are energy based. And so there your really ultimately better off with capped and primus layered battle armor. Mixed with a good PSG you'll have pretty good energy resist. And still have quite reasonable kinetic resist for those times when some one has a kinetic gun or one of those fairly rare melee professions manages to get up close and personal.
