Thread: Mathematicians Guide to Armorsmithing
Ok Brutus, Krylop, Caile, or anyone else
, tell me if this equation works for adding in gated resources based on your experiences so far. I cannot test it yet as I am short some supplies to try it out but am working towards that right now.
Since Gated resources have caps other than 1000, we basically just needto figure out what the number would be on the 1000 scale. For example a theoretical resource of steelwith stats of 239 OQ / 567 SR. Let's say that the OQ cap was 1000 like normal, but the SR was gated to 750. Knowing this we need to take the gated SR in the following equation to make it on the 1000 scale:
( UT / Top Gate ) * 1000
In the example I used it would be:
( 567 / 750 ) * 1000 = 756 or 75.6%
Am I correct in assuming that... based on the percentage system we are using here, that the Gated steel(239 OQ / 567 SR)is essentially (for equational purposes) the same as ungated steel(239 OQ / 756 SR)? Or am I not utilizing the correct equation?
Thanks for all the replies from everyone, and as soon as I better understand the math for gated resources I will update the guide.

Don't rack your brain on OQ - that's the only stat, that has no caps.

You write:
"Gated resources are resources that are not bound by the 1000 cap that most other resources are."
As far as i know, all stats (except OQ) from EVERY ressource are gated... often the caps may be 10 - 980 or something like that, but i believe they are always there.
I'm not 100% sure, but even if that turns out not to be true than at least most ressources are gated.
PS: This is my 1000th post.

Ack!! Your 1000th post is to correct me?!?!!? Oh the shame.... Oh the humility..... ![]()
Hehe... ok I will fix the guide. And thanks for all your help!!
*Edit* guide is fixed now.

This should be stickied, this kind of reverse engineered precision doesn't make it out of Area 51 very often.
