Thread: Resource gates in the game

i kinda think this should be stickied, this is gold dust for many AS, especially new one's![]()
Well, we'll need a new corro first.
How does the gated system work exactly? So I can use a specific resource, when it calls for it in an AS recipe, and it will automatically cap the stats for me behind the scenes? Or how does this work exactly...

Yes, that is what it means. If you have a schematic that asks for a SPECIFIC resource, then the gates that are listed are used (again, they are not 100% accurate, just educated guesses and are usually very close). It doesn't automatically "cap" the stats for you, but I don't think that is what you mean. It automatically lowers that max value that it is measured against.
So say your schematic calls for a resource that has a SR cap of 400. You have some of that resource that is 350 SR. If it wasn't adjusted then it would be 350/1000 = 35% (not good). With the adjustment, the resource is 350/400 = 87% (much better).
Remember, this ONLY APPLIES TO SPECIFIC RESOURCES IN THE REQUIREMENT. I've had a lot of people use resources in a generic field such as aluminum and think that it will still use the caps on the specific kind of aluminum they used. This is not the case and the scale is back to 1000 for the generic resources.
Learn these and keep an eye out for a deal. I found the servers best alantium carbonite ore (an energy layer component with a SR cap of only 115) on a grind vendor for 1.5 cpu! Got 300k for 450k!![]()

The answers to your questions are in the original post from SWGcraft.com. I think it was JediSpam that posted a link to it in the first response following my original post. Read there and you will see what exactly they did to get those numbers...I don't remember right off, but it seemed they did some sort of statistical math based on the spawns reported on all servers.
Thanks Lev, and yes, please read it.
You might spend an hour figuring out everything, but believeme, it's worth every minute.
The thread itself is kinda old but the data was from all servers at the time. So if you see something like SR 302-387, I think it would be wise to assume the "actual" gates are 300-390. The reason I say this is I've actually had 2 or 3 resources that went over and underthe listed cap, butonly by 1 or 2 points, but would still fall in place if the numbers were rounded up (down).
