Yea this isnt a hologrind profession I just always wanted to do this. This is my first reroll and last time I was an architect but I never really got into because of there wasnt any diffuculty in making furniture, factories, or house, but makin harvies was fun. So going up is the Techinque tree is the way to go you say? I dont want to be like everyone else and make uber composite I just want to be able to help out noobs and others that just wanted some good armor they can afford to wear and buy.

Here's what I suggest...

1. Grind Mabari Chestplates and sell on the bazzar until you finish Tech4.
2. Next climb up the Personal Armor Tree
3. Layers Tree next.
4. PSG's Tree last.

When you achieve Tech4, you will have enough experimentation points to use that will result in above average armor. Once you get to Chitin, make a few chest plates and throw them on the bazzar along with the Mabari to get you some income. Don't make full suits of Chitin & sell them, they require too many hides & bones to be worthwhile. If you want to climb a litte faster and don't have to worry about credits, make sure to check off the "Practice Mode" box, it will grant you an additional 10% XP, although, there will be no finished product for you to sell on the bazzar.

Once you get up to Personal Armor 3, make Ubese armor & throw those on the vendor and start advertising. Tantel (personal armor 2) has a stat shifting bug & is pretty much useless. I suggest Ubese, becuase that is the biggest market other than Composite. A lot of Masters don't bother making anything but Composite because it makes them the most money. Ubese is a GREAT Kinetic resist armor with low enough HAM encumbrance to wear without being buffed.

When you're making each different type of armor (Mabari, Chitin, Tantel, Ubese, Padded) take notes on how each experimentation point affects the overall armor.

Also, check out www.swgcraft.com for the schematics on ALL armors, including Composite.

Start gathering highly specific resources needed for Composite & Ubese armor before you're qualified to make it. That way, when you do get there, you won't be limited to the crappy stuff that's available when you get trained. A lot of resources needed for armor are "rare" spawns so you might not be able to make it because the resources aren't available. You'll be ahead of the game & ready to produce suits when you get trained. Get as much Wooly hide as you can. Wooly goes into *EVERY* armor and large amounts are required for Composite.

Overall Quality & Shock Resistance are the 2 most important stats when it comes to armor. Malleability affects your HAM encumbrance. The higher OQ+SR you use, the better/stronger the final product becomes. The higher MAL you use, your armor will have LOWER HAM encumbrance. Good rule of thumb...

OQ+SR > 1500 - Great
OQ+SR > 1700 - Awsome
OQ+SR > 1900 - Godly

I dont even look at MAL anymore, everyone is buffed and makes HAM irrelevant.

If you grind, you will be in the same boat as holo-grinders that don't know what the hell they're doing.

In order to be a good armorsmith, you must understand the product that you are creating, selling, and marketing. My biggest pet-peeve is holo-griding Master Armorsmiths that ask "novice" questions that they would have learned themselves if they took the time & effort to learn the craft. You're a friggin Master for god's sake.

Lastly, this is a HARD ELITE PROFESSION. If you truly want to stick with this, it will be the most rewarding profession you've ever done. Not only do we make A LOT of credits, but the connections and relationships you make from your regular customers will last a lot longer than SWG will... You *WILL* make a lot of credits as a Master Armorsmith. If you don't, you're either too dumb to do it, or you don't want to put in the time and effort to build yourself a sucessful business.

If you need help or have any other questions, please feel free to PM me or post on this forum. I check it regularly & a lot of Masters that visit this forum have great advice to give to all aspiring Armorsmiths (except for hologrinders).

Good Luck!! Let me repeat a quote from another armorsmith that helped me when I started,

"WELCOME TO THE CRAFT!!!" -Zagurim, Tyrena, Corellia-Radiant

Krayt Dragons (Tatooine)-Composite Armor
Rancors (Dathomir)-Padded Armor
Night Sisters (Dathomir)-Segment Enchancers for all armors (Usually negative HAM encumbrance)
Genosian Acklay-Random segments for random armors (Bone, Interwoven RIS, etc.)
Voritor Lizards (Dantooine)-Bone Armor
Sharnaff Plates (can't remember planet)-Bone (I think)

Above is the more common segments you will be working with as an Master Armorsmith. Other NPC's & critters will drop segments, but most of the time, they are not anywhere as good as you can make yourself with decent resources. For instance, Krayt Dragon Composite Armor Segments can range from 10% Base to 40% Base (VERY RARE). If you're using Adv.Composite Segments, you will be able to create an average base of 18%-25%. A huge plus is HAM encumbrance on Krayt Segments are lower that what you can produce.

I have yet to see loot drops for Ubese, Tantel, or Mabari. There is Chitin Segments also, but I dont remember what mob drops them...

Got to think again I know that certain animals drop armor segments, can they be used in any type of armor or are they designed for only one type of armor.

Sorry about that but finally does anyone know the animals that drop layers or segments and what armor they can used in?
