I disagree that the job of a correspondent is to be a "mediator". In no way should be correspondent act as an advocate for the views of the developers to the expense of the forum community. The job description is very simple: a correspondent communicates and advocates for the views of the community to the developers. A correspondent is not a spin doctor or a public relations person. They are a part of their community. If the developers reply to the correspondent, the correspondent can then relay the reply to the community, but they shouldn't make it their goal to advocate a view expressed by the developers. This is why they are not paid employees of SOE, so they can be impartial (hopefully).

Well, I disagree that a mediator is a spin doctor or a PR person. To me, a mediator is someone who can get both sides talking. And shouting at the devs and not listening isn't being an effective corrospondant.

Perfect passive/aggresive tactics! They like that too.

Holy crap. I've been trying to think of that term all day. It was right on the tip of my tongue. Thank you.

Problem is, no matter how good the "mediator" is, we all must accept that if they don't want to say anything to us, well....I'm sure Okram tried all he could through the proper channels before resorting to what he did.

All I am saying is that being correspondent isn't about being balanced, it's about representing the views of the forum community to the devs. You shouldn't ever feel that you need to persuade the forum community that what the devs are doing is better than what they want... as soon as you do that you instantly lose all credibility. Because since everything happens on the correspondent forum we really have no idea what is going on. Credibility that you are speaking for us is EVERYTHING.

Also
Don't go into it to press your personal agenda for what AS should be.
You are to speak for the cummunity, not push your own (possibly completely missguided) ideas.

And you know what Furia, I think you would make a good correspondent just based on the fact that you believe that.
