Also there needs to be further focus into the effectiveness of armor in the CU to see if it is worth the cost of all this effort. If the potential for gain for armor is less then the cost of armor, the armorsmithing profession will shrivel up and die. If armor is not as good in the combat upgrade as it is now, then it should not be more expensive and harder to produce then it is now.

Hey, those numbers looked familiar . . .

But the extracted quote above from Okram is the thing that really bothers me. From everything I'm hearing from people on TC with the ham-handed level system (bad design! bad! bad!), and the utter lack of documentation as to what the new numbers on armor actually mean ... I get bad vibes.

Personally, I can deal with the increased organic costs. I can live with increased metal / mineral requirements. I can accept ridiculously long factory times. But I'm not sure that the general playerbase can or will accept the inevitable price increases that will result.

Again, the question that we, and the developers, must be asking at every stage of CURB testing is -- IS THE SYSTEM FUN? I think the answer, in terms of the onerous new armor resource requirements, reduced effectiveness of experimentation and variety of construction, and the general ham-handedness of the whole thing, is a decided NO.

I read through it, but didnt see mention of the time factor required to gather these resources in the new CU system.

Since now you have to hire a bodygaurd to effectively collect said resources, you must factor in costs for standing around looking for a group, paying for the time required of the guard, whether for extended hours for those stubborn resources, or for a few minutes for the easy ones.
This includes factory runs.
All in all, this equates to more money and time spent on your part per set of armor.

Factoring all this into the equation brings the price up even more I would assume.

Now, if your one of the lucky few who happen to be in a guild that enjoys doing these sorts of babysitting tasks, then I guess all this might not matter.

it's too hard to calculate things like that into the picture, but you can expect them to definatly have an effect on the price. Possibly making the overal price increase for post CU armor into a multiplier of 5 or more.

This just makes it even harder for us to try to get people to buy our goods, and continue to get our undue label of being greedy lazy people who hate change.
