1) Yes, you have to pick a faction.
2) Yes, from a recruiter. Only a master AS can buy them.
3) You can if you like. Horribly expensive though. Not very Star Warsy, but it's your game.
4) Not sure. Browse the stickies.

Faction armor isn't really any different than any other armor in terms of stats except that the condition is higher.

i got a set bio linked, but think that char needs to resign. Will my faction armor still be equipable as nuetral? how about if the opposing side? or is it gonna be a house decoration only?

i dont think the katarn (clone) armor is considered faction armor so u can wear it even while on leave so maybe even on the other side of the GCW... maybe someone will correct me

Clone armor is not factional, the faction just determines what color you get. So yes, you'll be able to wear it no matter what.

The other factional armor (Stormtrooper armors, Rebel armors) are only equipable when you are Combatant or SF, so obviously if you drop your faction you will not be able to equip those because you can't go Combatant.
