Spend our millions to gather resources?
In my opinion (please tell me if I'm wrong) only the well established armor smiths have those millions from being an armorsmith. For the longest time I got my money (which was barely covering the maintenance cost of factories and harvestors) by hunting in a solo group and I had to drop scout before I mastered AS. Even after mastering AS, I make most of my money from gathering various resources that can be mined and auctioning them off.
Now, I have a character that was a Ranger and I loved it. Made lots of money from running a full buff of missions on a planet that had some organic resource that people were paying lots of money for. Plus people are always looking for grinding quality hide... so no matter what you can make money from your hunts besides mission payouts. What I haven't heardanyone mention is that a lot of beggining players have scout skills and gathering resources is a very profitable business for them mainly because they don't have high mission payout yet. Maybe your servers aren't too great at this, but whenever there is an organic resource out that people need, people will go to a starport and shout out that they are buying a hide/meat/bone at __ cpu. Everytime before I went hunting with my ranger I would check out the starports to check for this and made lots of money.
I'm not trying to say that anyone here is wrong about gathering up the organic resources, you all have valid points. And those that have money to pay for hides will do so and make awesome armor. I realize that the scarcity of good organic spawns will creat a more diverse market for wookie armor, but on my server, whenever I have my Master AS tag out, I get at least 5 tells from wookies every time I go to a starport asking me if I make wookie armor. Wookies are plentiful on my server and the armor they seek is not, especially at reasonable prices. I've spent many hours trying to get a price comparison for wookie armor (for when I start making it) and I might find one or two vendors with it out of many vendors and planets.
The fact that Wookie Armor is so hard to make it the reason why most Armor Smiths will not make it, but then again, that just means more business for those that do make it.
I'll have to think about this more because some of you have made very good arguements against the petition.

Yes the well established armorsmiths should and can make all types of armor because they have the credits and means to do it.
What I have seen is this thread is the lower down the totem poll armorsmiths want to make getting the resources easier so they can easily aquire everything needed to do this as well. No way.
Get off the mindset that a beginner 10 point smith should be making any and every kind of uber armor. I busted my a$$ to get to my point where I can make ANY type of armor and have the resources to do it. Earn your keep.

I disagree with your petition and agree with most others who think AS rshould require a little work. On an altserver that has been inactive for 7 months all i had were some pistols skills (pistoleer 0042) and an old atst (important soley for the fact that he made me my first 20k to get started lol.)
I started Armorsmithing (novice)about 2 weeks ago and have been 'hounding' for resources since then. I already have mined 100k plus of GREAT Colat, Intrusive, and solid petrochem that nets me 80/72 Adv Comp...As only a 10pt smith. Yes its heavy (900/800/900ish) but a good effec. slice will put that armor as amazing IMHO. All other 'sources ( I use 3 Energy Layers, simply because it is the only layer i could find 900+ 'sources for in 2 weeks)I have limited quantities (5k and less) of and one steel i use i paid 20cred a unit for. Why do i disagree since i don't have hardly any resources nor will for awhile? Because i've only been doing this for 2 weeks and i can make armor thats a little below the best! I must also state that I just don't like Wookies. Sorry, they just annoy me. But when i do get a shop set up im gonna try and get the 'sources needed to make wookie armor because I think the Armorsmith Prof is THE BEST crafting proffession. With a year as a Master WS and only a few months as DE/architect i think that by far the AS is the most demanding and challenging profession. Why lower all the requirements and make it easier? So everyone who holo-ground AS can make the same armour as someone who has been playing and learning and stocking for months? In my opinion the WS could seriously use a revamp and take a lot of cues from the AS proff. (in many areas like experimenting for example, there's really only one thing you need to exp on...damage. Most componentshaveONLY one area to exp in. It's sad.)
Quality Armorsmithing requires skill and my hat is off to all those armorsmiths who can do it.

I'm going to agree with those saying don't change the requirements, and I'm a relatively new smith who can only get hunting armor with base resists in the 50s with 80 percent kinetic due to my resources. If there were a real shortage of wookiee armor, we'd have Kashyyyykian hunting parties scouring the wilds of Lok and Dath to get us the materials, and a bantha wouldn't stand a chance if he were foolish enough to pop his head out of that tiny little nests he lives in.
No smith is obligated to make ALL the armors. If you don't want to gather or pay for the resource or your customer base isn't willing to help themselves out, I say stick to composite.

I disagree too (and I am a Wookiee AS :-))
While reading this thread a question crossed may mind (Maybe I misunderstood because english is not my mother tongue:
Is there a difference between Master AS and a 10 point Smith? I ask because i am current a 4-0-0-4 AS and i have 7 experimentation points.....

Korbash, you get 10 experiment points at master so a 10-point smith is a master armorsmith. A 12-point smith has achieve an extra +20 armor experimentation through clothing attachments to get 12 experimentation points.

What do you guy sell your Wookiee Hunting armour for? I sell mine for 370k but Valcyn is known to be a bit cheaper than other servers.
Yeah, the hide/bone/wood costs drive me nuts, mostly because I missed the only good spawn of Lok Leathery and Tat Wooly since I became an AS, lol.

Oh, interestingly enough I find Padded to have similar but not quite as extreme Hide costs.

when I first started making wookie armor I too was concerned about the Hide useage, but know I really like making Wookie Armor and don't mind the high hide useage at all. So I have to disagree with the original poster.

"Banthas (tat wooly, low amounts given per kill)" - very easy to find Banthas, and they have a decent amount of hide.
"Dantooine avian bones (voritors, again, low amounts)" - the big voritors give an awful lot of bone, they give more bone than your average gurk gives hide. Pull 5 mob per wave lairs of Slinking Votitor Hunters and you get 3k bone for a run of two lairs plus wild spawns you pass: Voritors are all over the place. Very easy really when you get experienced.
"Lok Leather (this one isnt bad)" - Gurks and Snorbals are good. Also very easy with experience.
Before you cry out too much, listen to this: Chilastra's best ever Avian Meat for Docs spawned on Tat - option was to kill Nunas, Nunas or Nunas. 2-4 units per. So I have no problem at all with Banthas as they are all over the place and give good harvest.

just as a start here i am not an armorsmith. but before you jump me, i AM a wookiee. I am also a damn fine resource gatherer. I think that you will find that the majority of players will get you all the resources you need and more for a decent payout. now as just ONE player i personally brought in 100k of lok leather in one day, and i am not even a ranger. tat wooly i cna get 50% of that. but again i am one person. the guy that mentioned starports is on the right track. advertisement of the resources you need while they are in spawn will net you plenty of that resource.
if you are out of dant bone why are you not at the dant MO telling all the hunters there to harvest it for you? same with Lok leather, same on tat. if you are not willing to do the legwork to let people know you need something then you are correct it will be hard to get those resources.
Personally as a wookiee i try to stay in contact with my smiths and get them the resources they require. if you talk with the wookiees that buy your wookiee armor you will probably find that others will do the same. when that whiney wookiee says 'why don't you have any wookiee armor' you should say well i am missing resource X; i will make some if you go get it at price X. these things are reciprocal and require some networking to get it done.
now about oq/sr. the guy that said 1300 is fine is perfectly correct. I have worked with a couple of armorers who were out of a given resource, which i then went and got a sample of from the current spawn which he/she had determined was 'not good enough' and had them craft with it. worked reasonably well and was perfect for hunting. average hunting armor does not need to be 80%kin, if all i am doing is grinding xp then wth do i need 1.3mil armor on for? craft with what is available and sell it at an appropriate price. people will still buy it and you will still profit, and more wookiees will come your way because you 'always have some wookiee armor in stock'.
not trying to bash here but while i agree that there are perhaps too many specific resources for one type of armor, i think that you should be more flexible in your gathering and oq/sr requirements. profit is profit, you get rich either way.
