One thing to consider is that the +/- 1000 isn't applied until the core is constructed. Assault and reconnaissance segments have no penalty or bonus.

Ahh Key Point there.

Might be a big market for it then. I'll have to try a run myself. At least for bounty hunters this would probably be a big seller witht he main damage type on lightsabers being energy.

One thing that most players cannot get through thier skulls is that if you have 2 combat masteries and those masteries have different Armor Certs then they can wear two types of armor without any hinderence.

I literally argued with a BH/Pistoleer over this for about half and hour. I wanted to knock my head against the wall (or maybe his). I said he should get quad layers Recon Armor
and he would say
"But Im a BH I need Assault Armor".
"Yes" , I would say, "However, you are also a Pistoleer. Therefore you can wear both".
"But I play a BH mostly..."
/bash head

99% of BHs are either Rifleman or Pistoleer. If they want 'Jedi Hunting' armor make them Quad Layers Recon. If they try and argue that they cannot wear it, just smack them.

This is all still confusing to me lol.

1. Assault armor favors kinetic resistance. True or false?

2. So when you put a kinetic layer in it boosts the kinetic while penalizing the energy. True or false?

3. If you put an energy layer in, it slightly boosts the energy and slightly penalizes the kinetic. True or false?

4. Primus boosts both energy and kinetic. It boosts the energy the same as an energy layer would. It also boosts the kinetic the same as a kinetic layer would. True or false?

5. If 4 is true, then 4 primus layers is always the best. True or false?

6. If 5 is false, i.e. primus boosts energy and kinetic but not as much as a kinetic or energy layer by itself.... then how would 2 primus and 2 energy layers do? The 2 primus would boost kinetic and energy... then the 2 energy would boost the energy even more and penalize the kinetic.... but that's ok since we boosted the kinetic with the primus.....

Well, in all fairness, in AotC wesaw how "effective" Mandalorian armor was at protecting against a saber swipe at the head/neck.

DONT DO IT !!

dont use energy assault it comes out the exact same as non layer battle.. its a bad bad idea.. the only people that would want this are possibly people with ONLY assault cert.. same goes for recon.. DONT make kin recon... they are useless and a waste of resources unless its your only cert.. battle is the way to go

Completely agree with you here, waste of resources if the customer has dual armor certs. However, I just had a request from a commando/BH to make a suit of kinetic layered assault and energy layered assault as he wants a set of pve armor and a decent set of jedi/pvp armor and is an assault only template, as per your example above

As far as layers goes there is really on 2 that are ever needed. Primus for the rich PvPer and energy for the jedi huntersuit.

For the most part, I agree, with one exception... Kinetic layers will be desired by those doing heavy PvE. Being a ranger on my alt, I do want to have that slight edge when it comes to the lvl 80's+.

The problem with kinetic is it reduces the energy. All of the ranged (spitting) mobs you encounter in PvE do energy damage. So while you do get some helpwith (maybe 5% with great layers) more kinetic resists you are hurting yourself by 5% on ranged resists. You could however argue that there are fewer ranged capable mobs than melee only ones and that is valid. I just can't see hurting an amors protection in this way because on the higher level planets there are a lot of spitting mobs.
