This is going to hit the big time crafters hard, and give the little guys a chance.

Being a little guy, I am all for making the big guys suffer.

CU = Thumbs up for me.

I think its better for the game overall. I get sick of seeing all composite guys with hammers or jedi. I think the beta has a long way to go BUT its a gamble that this game needs to take.

Actually you are wrong, because only the 'big time' crafters will be able to afford to go to a smuggler and get the new factional schematics, the will have the bonuses to make the higher end armor... with that the 'big time' guys/gals will still rule the roost

Forget about having any leisure time to do anything else other then to just craft armor. This is setting up for all work and no play.we'll be hampered with /tells for customized armor now.(and for all u guys that wanted more hand craftin; u'll be sick of it soon when every tom, !ick and harry constantly are sending u /tells) There will be less factory runs. I for one like the other things this game provides and dont want to sit in my house 24/7 crafting all sorts of armor for all different types of professions. As it is now there is not enough AS's out there and after CU there will be more demand for us.

And I dont like how all my comp resources that i've been colllecting and paying for a year and a half willknowonly be able to be used by 3 proffessions.

The new armor system itself sounds great even though it means more work, because we now have to keep track of all these different types of armor. It'll give the smaller guys more room since one person will have a harder time dominating the market.

I'm not too thrilled about this whole certification system however. It limits freedom and the freedom to do whatever you feel like doing today, is what I've come to enjoy in SWG. I only lasted to level 8 in EQ2 beta because it felt like I was being forced in a specific direction all the time. SWG seems to be heading the same direction with these certification changes. Now roleplaying stormtrooper guilds will be forced to pick up certain professions just to wield their choice of weapon along with their stormtrooper armor. Like that padded suit of yours? Well, here's the list of professions that will allow you to wear it and if you think you'll look better with a tantel helmet instead of the padded one, here's a list of the other professions that will allow you to wear that. At the very least, let people wear armor as a fashion statement, but make it so that it has no protective benefits. Put the RPG back in MMORPG rather than taking it out and stop trying to follow the crowd by making SWG exactly like the other MMORPGs.

That would be my 2 credits on the matter.

I have the resources to make every advanced segment except Padded already in stock. How did I do this? I've been stocking my vendors with Chitin/Ubese/Mabari since I started and have been making 77kin Custom Padded for about 3 months. 80kin80ele7*eff Composite for as long as I can remember at this point.

But I make all of it in bulk, and other than the Padded which I charge out the nose for, NOBODY gets custom anything. Either pick it from my vendor in the colors I chose to make, or go spend hours cruising the galaxy trying to find it.

Having said that, I'm not really excited about the CURB. The part I like least about AS is the custom crafting. I've been able to make my schematics, load the factories, and forget about it. It leaves plenty of time for the alt, and I don't have to hear "no not that light blue, the other light blue" or "sorry I spent all my money, could you sell that custom colored suit thats named after me" or "I thought it would be more green than that" or "how much for an orange padded bracer and some composite gloves".

At this point in the game the last thingI want to do is hang out in my house making 20k here, 30k there.

As far as the FP go, my alt should be able to handle that. I was excited when I read about the "new" armors that were coming out, but now I'm not that pumped. I was hoping for new neutral armors not just the faction stuff.

To see that a neutralSwordsman will be limited to Padded and Bone is pretty weak IMO. If they don't nerf the hide needed for Padded you can expect to pay 600k or more a suit for it if you want anything of quality.

I'm all for custom armor. I just think that should be done by the person that buys it. Like the color selection for Composite, just expanded.

Crafting since Publish 5. I'm holding on in hopes the Armorsmith profession gets the love it deserves. I prefer the pre-CU system, crafting and combat. I would also like to see decay and hide gathering reinstalled into the game, as well as some epic Recon, craftable of course. And make being 12 point important again.

My Concerns:

1.) Survival ability in the DWB.
2.) Those who completed the RIS Quest already. How many use schematic will we get? etc, etc.

3.) Faction point costs for Faction Armor.

4.) Factory support for crafting armor in the upgrade (will we be like Shipwrights?).

5.) Organic resouce use in the armor types (ie. Padded).

6.) Skill tapes - Experimentation and Assembly

Number 6 will probably remain the same, but I want to make sure the devs don't screw up anything. I know if something happened to your +25 Armor Experimentation suit you would be P1ssed!
