Thread: Why do I see more and more Tantel Armor

when i combine it with a psg it works wonders
ls hits for say 500dmg nice and even (roughly equivelent to wrath of khan to a ranged profession)
46% psg acts first 270dmg gets through
30% tantel 189dmg gets through.
thats a total of 62% light sabre resists, if you add intimidate and synsteak on dmg getting through is really low. Never tried that droid thing if that works i think i got ot find myself some exceptional ns layers. and janta hide.
edit: i wasjust playing with numbers if you add intimidate + synsteak final dmg of that 500pt hit is 68dmg using intimdate reducing dmg to 60% and 40%reduction synsteak.

i've yet to see a dev mention it as an exploit anywhere, mind pointing me to the dev post that says exploit

Isn't Tantel resist to Stun? If it is, a lot of PvPrs might be using it since almost everyone uses Stun weapons. I have to admit, I see a lot of Tantel helmets.
As a side note to the "Nice Armor" comment... I made a set of blue and white padded sans helmet. I get a lot of tells asking me where I looted it from.

this is an exploit why? because they are using armor crafted by a player using normal crafting mechanics?

Now if we can only get a loot ADV seg and have um fix the layers on it soo all other layersbeside energy dont lock the stat too what ever the special is on the layer.. then we might have some of the best armor in the game /grin

Yeah resistant to stun.. pretty darn weak to everything else.

Heh, just cuase its player crafted doesnt mean its not an exploite
Case in point
Vehicles with 40k ham EX
triple sliced weapons, yup you guessed it EX
The old compsite bug, and im not going to tell youi how to do it where you could get min ham and max reisist,, EX
Hiding stuff in a droid to evade detection, and im not talking about spice or sliced weapons, the ones that are legal, did i mention that was an EX
Droping harvesters to catch critters on um soo you could attack with no risk,, ohh gee what a surprise an EX
Using /open command inside a starport on an other charcater,, Yup and other EX
the mouse bomb exploite, Im not gonna even mention what it is cuase im not sure if its been fixed.. yea you guessed it its an EX
Being able to change a sign on another person structure.. EX
Removing items off a vendor with out paying for them EX
All these have been confirmed by csr's soo dont give me any crap that these are not..those are the ones just off the top of my head,, do i need to go on? Ohh i can but many have not been fixed yet and im not gonna give anyone some ideas
When you have to take something outta a crate. not cross a server boundry.. Store it in a droid at reset and any of a number of things to keep a resist that they are not supose to have,, That is screaming exploite. You dont believe me why dont you send in a ticket and ask a CSR yourself.If the jedi was smart they would turn ya in. Btw it has been stated by the devs tantel is NOT supose to have LS resist and it IS a bug.. soo if your using it as that you ARE exploiting.
Its a bug in game design code is everything not an exploite till someone gets baned for it?

I don't understand all this 'exploiting' business. If something is bugged with the game and it's causing a problem of ppl exploiting it. FIX IT. Geez, ppl shouldn't be penalized for playing a game as it is designed. If the devs are pissed off cause ppl are exploiting flaws in there game, they should take as a sign and fix the bloody thing so it doesn't happen anymore! They shouldn't suspend or cancel accounts just because ppl areplaying a game as it was constructed. Some ppl might thing that solo'ing is an 'exploit', which by all things considered, it IS and with the combat revamp, they intend to 'fix' it. How is solo'ing any different from the stuff listed above? Why didn't the suspend/cancel any player doing solo mission.
The only exception is see is that 'sign changing' thing. I've never seen/done/heard of it before but after all it is a bug, and if enough ppl complain, it should be fixed. The key is 'should'.

Just soo we are clear, if someone came and cleaned out your armor vendor with out paying for it, or took something outta your house due to a unfixed flaw you would be oky with it? cause thats the way the game is designed?
Some things just cant be tested, Yea i know we put up with lots that could be. But some of these big time bugs/exploites are burryed soo deep in code that they could take months to find. Code is a odd thing. Its funny how one little thing in an unrelated area can turn something else into well a big old bug.
Im not gonna get into how to do lots of these things, but there are ways to seak out exploites, and its done by doing stuff that that one wouldnt do just normally playing the game, Like forexample, there was a way to get inside the walls of your house from the outside, by laggin the house spawn and flying into a corner and you could aucally get inside the house as it was spawning but technically you where underneath it. you could see items that had been lost inside the walls of your house, and you could retrieve um. That was not a big exploite, seeing it was just your own place. But still its obvious that wasnt intended and could take 100's or 1000's of trys to do it. Testers are not gonna spend all day trying to see if they can get inside a house in that way, they have much more important things to do. But some kid just by chance does it once, the desicides to trys for 3 days strait to do it again and figures it out and then tells his freinds and posts on some warez board and POOF an exploite is born.
Granted some stuff should not make it past the beta testers, but some stuff.. there is just no way on knowing.

Good points, never really thought of the messed up exploits like that. So you can throw the 'ppl cleaning out a vendor' thing in the exception list (again, never seen/heard/done that before). Those are major flaws that actually involve one player 'stealing' from another. Issues like that should be addressed first and foremost (ie, before messin around with combat balances) and I suppose would justify some kinda warning or suspension of account. But come on! Nailing a guy cause he mistakinly found out how to build a 40k HAM bike? or doing a trick to keep your Tantel LS resistant?That stuff is ridiculous..
oh, well, it's their game and they are the Devs and they decide what priorities mean the most 'in the whole scheme of things'.
