I am not Hysterical; I am a conspiracy theorist.
It WILL NOT be OQ/UT.
It WILL be OQ/SR/UT (or something similar, plus.)
If it had been OQ/SR/UT (plus more resources overall, more organics, and more subcomponents)from the start then there would have been the same outcry from the community as we see now.
By first baiting the community with OQ/UT, then switching over to OQ/SR/UT (plus), it produces a happy community that actually thanks the developers for listening to them (resulting in a lesser nerf than initially expected.)
Think of it like asking for a raise. You ask more than what your boss will give. Your boss will never give as much as you ask. Only in reverse. Make sense?
Renea,
Master Conspiracy Theorist of Tempest,
PS: The Woolamander landed in Theed. I have the speeder.

Ultimately, no person with a college degree can think changing the resource requirements for a profession would be "better overall", there is another reason. The developers aren't stupid; it was only a matter of time before they figured out how to control the community through creative methods and learned how to equip the nerf bat properly.
Renea,
Master Conspiracy Theorist of Tempest,
I am 99% sure you are correct. Not because I'm a conspiracy theorist, but because they have done this a dozen times before. It is the same thing I am mentioning in my armor cost thread. They want to raise the resource usage, and the only way to do that, and make us happy is to make it absurd at the beginning, and then bring it to the point they want.
You hear that Blix, we're on to you. (but we still like you)

So very true, I saw it the same way. Personally, if we can't exp on condition, than all we should depend on is OQ+SR.

Why should a new AS be able to making competing products with somone who's been an AS for months upon months, or years even?
You start from scratch and work your way up, you don't sabotage (Not directed at youof course. You're not a dev)the best in your fieldso your product looks better.
I did work my way up (points to Master Armorsmith tag
). All things considered, I should be able to make exactly the same armor as any other 10-pt MAS. The issue is not that the Devs havesabotagedthe old timers'skills;it's that all the hard work, time and money they have sunk into getting set up may be wasted. I think that's what you meant though...it's about the resources, not the abilities.
But even then, if I go to Ebay and buy 100 million credits, then buy up all the uber resources I can find, I should be able to...
I keed, I keed!

I completely agree with you. Classic bargaining behaviour from the devs. Expect the absurd resource amount requirements (700 hides for a chestplate) to go down as well overthe nextfew weeks. Of course they will end up higher than currently on live and we will think we have won some small battle and the devs get what they want all along

Well, I know that if SR is dropped from the armour resources I am prolly done making armour. I enjoyed it, but if they dumb it down and change the resources, I am out.
I worked hard to get the resources and learn the craft, and I can make armour as good as any smith on the server. I am not replacing 20 mil of the servers best resources because someone changed their mind about what stats should be important for armour.
Pretty much, if armour crafting goes live in its current state (coupled with the nerf doc is taking) I am more than likely gonna cancel my AS/Doc alt because there will be no point in keeping it.
I understand changes needed to be made but some of this seems 100% un-needed and unwanted.
Why change from layers and segments to cores? Why not just change the stats on the layers and segs to the new system?
Why not just add new segments for the new armour types and make some adjustments to the old ones? You could even mix-and-mash resources required from current armours into the new armours so smithes wouldn't need to expand their resource inventory too much.
Cause that would be the easy way. From a software developer's point of view, doing what you sudjest isn't that hard. I'm suspecting close to half mill of code. mabe less but still alot. IF THESE CODERS ARE WORTH THEIR DEGREES (ya am vengefull on that, I'm an unemployeed programmer, employed chef), they could shift through all the code and classes ( this game is off of c++ (oviously), suspecting borland builder, ) and adjust stuff. send out patch. voila.
Some how they are trying to make things better and make us happy so we can keep sending them money. How is still a question we're all asking on this forum. The only armor I felt challanged with personaly when I got to master was Comp armor. everything else was simple. the thing that bothered me about the class is the specific typed resources in order to make something worth selling. If they can keep specific parts to extreem elite armor , say ris and Maurder, have the faction stuff be faction gained (HINT; AS gain faction points for selling faction armor or armor to factioned players)

Well I guess I have stronger eyes than you because mine didn't start bleeding until the yellow font.

In Austin , our Star Wars Galaxies™ team is focused on a big change to the game's combat system. The "Combat Revamp" is now live on the SWG test server, and it's getting very positive feedback from the SWG playerbase. The team is also putting the finishing touches on Star Wars Galaxies™: Episode III Rage of the Wookies™, which launches in less than a month. The SWG playerbase is very strong, and we're continuing to put a lot of effort into making Star Wars Galaxies™ even better and adding new content all the time. The latest expansion pack adds Episode III content into the universe -- something our SWG players were asking for!
