lolI did 30 suits of faction today and half of it is gone inside 3 hours.... at 1.4-1.6m, I agree with xanrag on this one... but if you want to undersell faction armor then by all means do so... you just hasten the day when the market is saturated and nobody wants it because they have 3 suits.... like shipwrights and tier 5 ships (right?)
Ill just make stuff at 1.5m until demand dies off, then offer the masses layered suits at 3.5m and in a few months enhanced layered suits for 5m. By then Ill probably have made750m and become completelyburned out on the nowpoint and click armorsmithing profession... (station exchange anyone?

Per your post, I will say that what little crafting I did this weekend was fun, but I think it was mostly due to the newness. I used to handcraft everything and color to my customers' desires and I feel I'll be doing that again. But based on the amount of tells I got in the limited time being on, I can see myself burning out again from handcrafting constantly.
I was also felt sad everytime I put some resources in the factory. Putting that many resources into one suit sure did hurt this kid, but I guess we'll adapt somehow. As long as I can get those named organics.
Thanks for the Mozilla fix link, at least I can defend myself now
Another factor for me is the customers. I really enjoy getting to know new people in-game and spending some time talking to them or even going out and doing a little PvE or PvP with my customers. I guess my main point is that many of us took up Armorsmithing because we were attracted to the challenge of the process or to the cash. The process has changed, and that will make some people find something new to do. There is nothing wrong with saying hey, this isn't for me anymore, it is time to move on. However, I think there is something wrong to continue doing something that you do not enjoy so you can complain about it 24/7. Somehow that feels oddly like a relationship I used to be in. Thank goodness she is gone!

I had tons of armor turn to crap, thousands of bugged layers and lost a gazillion credits on my resources (estimated). But even so I have to say that I've played more since the CU hit than I did the whole month before.
Most of this is of course because I have to redo my whole resource stockpile, which is kinda fun if a bit frustrating. There doesn't seem to be much challenge with the new system no, I hit 5924 on recon, 5944 on assault and already cap 6000 on battle.. without using any resoure reward crates.
Resources matter much more now, but there are fewer of them to collect.. at least it feels like it. Since all armor is the same basically, just with different looks.
Time will tell whether I'll enjoy the CU more.. danger is that I'll find everything I need, then just be back where I started.

Armorsmithing before this use to be about challenge to get the best armor but be unique from others. On my server, I was a specialist in padded armors. While others dealt with comp or ubese or whatever. Now, the individualism is gone. Thank you soe for allowing this guy to do more business, but he doesnt grasp the concept that we arent talking about credits, we are talking about fun and challenge.
I am worried that I will soon reach a point where I can't 'tweak' my armor any more. At that point I'll just be a person that cranks out armor. In the old system, I felt there were always things for me to learn and improve myself. Hope I'm wrong abou the new system.

I'm glad your business is doing well and appreciate your view on the matter. I however gave up trying and am in the process of selling all my stuff off over the new few weeks before my account expires. I did not give up because I feel the business is dead, I gave up because the fundamental pleasure of the system is gone. Gone are the days of "how can I squeese just another few points out of the HAMand raise the base by 1%". There is simply no sense of accomplishment when you best yourself and make that truely remarkable piece. My best day was when I made a 0 HAM 80 base unsliced helmet and the memory of shaking as I sliced it and prayed for an effect slice.
What do we have to look forward to now?

I guess right now the only thing I am really looking forward to is the ability to craft Bounty Hunter Armor and the other types of Marauder Armor. Much of the improvement after you have the best resources will be in making special orders with enhancers I'm assuming. I guess one part of Armorsmithing that is very fun for me (and I can understand that this isn't fun for everyone) is the ability to make items to order. A lot of what we do now is cater to different players and the image they want to have in-game. A lot of people enjoyed custom colored Padded or a unique set of Tantel but now they can wear what they want (within their profession group) and look the way they want. Yes, all of the custom orders will be time consuming, but I guess that is the part of the profession that I always enjoyed. Not making any two suits the same and not working hard for a few hours to crank up factories to make 300 suits of identical Composite armor. Maybe the reason I am enjoying it now is a fundamental difference in what I enjoy about the profession. To each his/her own.
