Ashland right now on Sunrunner you can get good wooly on Tantoonie from Bantha's whihc harvest from 30 to 60 unit per Bantha.
There is some okay Wooly on Dant. which I recommend getting from Hurtons.

I haven't seen anyone post this yet, but as I've been doing a little bit of creature harvesting lately it has been my single greatest tool.

For those of you who don't know about it, try doing an "advanced search". You can search each planet, individually or together, for whatever type of creature resource you're looking for. Not only that, but then you can sort by challenge rating, which, while not directly correlated with how much will be dropped, a higher CR tends to help out.

Oh yes, the blood of bantha's have been spilling regularly on Naritus recently.

Yup, Mantigrue Screechers are fantastic 
I've found that it's quicker just to go looking for wild lairs, so you don't have to keep running back to the outpost (and also means you don't have to bother getting in a solo group first). The wild lairs kick out WAY more mobs than a mission lair does - the last time I went hunting for wooly, I picked up over 10k in about 45 minutes, with Scout xx1x and veghash.
If you take any Mantigrue and Gurreck lairs that you find, it really takes hardly any time at all to track down the next one, so you're spending almost all your time killing/harvesting, and not so much time travelling.

This works sometimes 
If you are working a wild lair and finish it off, circle the area for a couple of minutes. lot of times the same type of lair respawns fairly close.

many creatures spawn in 3's (at least I've noticed that when they spawn in the wild w/o a lair). So if something spawns and you kill it, make sure to come back to that same spot in a couple mins because it will most assuredly spawn again.
As far as bantha's are concerned, the bull bantha's and then the matriarch bantha's drop some high amounts.

anyone happen to know what on Dathomire Drops wooly hide? There was some nice Dath wooly hide on the flurry server months back, but no one seemd to know what dropped it.

Nothing to harvest it from on Dathomir. However, Wooly Hide is in the loot tables and sometimes drops from npc's.

Lol that's harsh. I want to say that like the 4 states armorsmiths need well all about maxed out and someone had a small bit of it. Guilds were scouring the planet for days looking for something. That's just wrong
