Can someone explain to me why you would want any special resists (other than stun) onhigh-base composite? Surely if you're going to take the high HAM costs of high-base comp, theintention isto slice it up to 90% (or close to it)?

Given that, why would you cap any resist besides electricity at 80%? Surely it's better to use 3 elec layers, and enable all the other resists to get up to 90%?

Well then so you can still sell it if it's get a HAM slice..? I dunno... or have other better resoures for those layers

I posted the exact same question just as I was starting out. Someone said something along the line of, "it's for the people who are to lazy to slice" And you know what, it's true. I'm just finshing up 3 different runs,

39%Stun & 66% Base,

80%Electric/70%Base and

80%Elec/80%Kinetic/68% Base.

I give my guild first crack with preorders, and the Elec/Kineitc/68% is far and away the most popluar. You can slice the Electric higher, you want the Stun for PvP, /shrug....

Heh, on Bria I guess that makes sense. I have a ton of unsliced armour, just because I couldn't be bothered to carry it with me for months on the offchance that I'd meet a smuggler who was available for a large slicing job

Out of interest, did you explain to them why the pure elec is better? It's always surprising how many 'veteran' players don't really understand how these things work.

Electric layers tend to have higher HAM costs than cold layers, you can find some very high mal carbonate ore for instance, combined with high mal aluminum and you have some very light, relatively high base cold layers...and even if someone does use cold damage it's going to be an AP0 rifle, no real threat there. That's my argument for cold layers.

Why would the pure electric be better? Unless you're referring specifically to the armor he's selling. I can hit 71% base/27% stun or71% base/stun vuln with electric layers. There's no advantage to layering with electric except for being lower HAM cost (but at the expense of some stun resist, the stun comp could be made lighter as well).

The only advantage i could see is if your stun resources aren't as good as your electric, in which case you could hit a higher base on it.

Edit: seems i missed that... I guess you mean electric-layered vs. layering with something other than stun, so as to keep everything else sliceable? That makes more sense... though stun layered is still preferable.

I've had to explain that a surprising amount of times actually. But, I've been playing since pretty much launch, and I've learned more about armor in the past 2 months then the previous16-ish.
