Thread: So Long... and thanks for all the fish

Well umm... as you all can see, I'm not blue anymore.
Not gonna make this long or anything, but hope someone else can step up and take my spot, and good luck to whoever it is, you're gonna need it. Armorsmithing in the TC is currently at an unacceptable spot, and don't try to kid yourself other wise. Whoever takes over this crazy place, and I'm sure someone will, needs to keep up the good fight for us.
I love this profession, and I loved the almost seven months that I've been the correspondant here for you guys. It was nice being here while I was.
Well uh... thanks for putting up with me, over looking my many typing and grammer mistakes, and all the great feedback you guys gave me. Take care everyone, I'll be around somewhere.

You did the best you could
. Your post shows your taste and though not an AS I appreciate the stand you tried to make for the game for us all.
I wish you the best in the future. Take care Okram2k

Okram2k and I have been friends for a long time now and I think he has been a fantastic correspondent. I am really sad that this happened, and I wanted to talk about some of the things I think he has done for the community.
- From the beginning, he has been an armorsmith that wasn't about being the top dog or server demi-god, but about caring about the issues that every armorsmith faces. For too many being correspondent is a status thing, and that was NEVER true for Okram.
- He has always had a great deal of knowledge about armorsmithing, but most importantly, he is willing to admit when he isn't the expert on X, Y, or Z. That to me is the key to being a leader, knowing when to seek the advice of others and knowing how to listen without telling others what to think. His receptiveness has made him a great spokesperson for us, because he doesn't come in with a personal agenda, but the agenda of the community.
- He genuinely loves armorsmithing and not because he wants to be rich and famous, but just cause he likes it, period. Running a business, acquiring rare resources, interacting with customers, these are the fun things for him.
- When armorsmithing was added to TC, he was a tireless leader in testing and understanding the new system. He invited everyone to join him and work as a team, to learn about the new system, and reply to the devs. He has always welcomed the participation of everyone, and has never had a personal agenda.
So when it became clear to Okram that the community was very concerned about alot of the changes, he went to bat for us. I can imagine that it is possible that he was overzealous about bringing the message to the devs, but I hope that the devs can forgive him that, after all he is just doing what he felt was best to inform them about our concerns. I don't believe that he had the intention of being hostile or bothersome, and if the devs felt he was being overzealous the right thing to do would have been to inform him that they had heard his concerns and needed time to process them.
I don't really know what happened, and I don't need to know, but I think that all this negativity is not good for us as a community and the burden is on the devs now to show that they do understand our concerns. If, even though he had to be fired, he helps us get the changes to the CU armorsmithing system that we badly need, he has done us a great service and I hope that everyone joins me in thanking him for everything he has done for us.
I think it would be great if the devs would grant him blue glowie status as a sign of respect for what he has done for the armorsmith community. I think that would go a long way to showing that there are no hard feelings and that we all have the same goals (a healthy community and a great game).

SOE doesn't comprehend what they just lost here in the AS forums.
See ya around on Tempest.

As SOE has lost its credibility to provide leadership of the SWG project, the ambivilance is effecting the success of the game, because players are losing the desire to engage - and why not, all their work of the last two years and investment in SWG has been dismissed, destroyed, and trashed with the introduction of an all NEW SWG.

One has to wonder how so many people who got their business and communications degrees from cereal boxes joined together in one place. It's uncanny. Must be a lunar thing.

I've not been checking these boards much untill recently when the Combat Downgradehit test, but I must say that you have been a great corrospondent. You took your community seriously. Something SoE apparently never learned to do when they fished their degrees out of the local muckpond.
You will go down in history as your boards Braveheart. Of this I am certain... of course, you just got fired... not killed. But that's probably a good thing...

- Peeps are hostile and non-supportive to SOE's efforts
- SOE can no longer rally support by the community, they are disenfranchised
- Players no longer respect exploits ingame, and just do "whatever", because they dont care to whatever degrees if they are banned, the passion for the game is gone, the desire for it to succeed is greatly deminished
- Players no longer respect forum rules, because they don't care to whatever degrees if they are banned
- Players no longer behave in ways that support the game environment, the success and enjoyment of the game, and the game sours overall
- Players give lousy word-of-mouth, promoting the decay of the playerbase, rather than organic growth of the playerbase through positive word of mouth
We're on a downhill slide friends. And the only solution now is to say "NO CONFIDENCE" to the SOE team and LucasArts, by cancelling accounts.
