Thread: So I'd like your opinion

I've got a bit of free time the next few days. Would me writing a "State of the Armorsmith Profession" post help you guys see where we stand? General idea is I write it up, you all make comments, I revise, and when we're all happy, I plop it in the Dev's lap, do a weird dance and say, "Fix us properly!"

And by fix, I don't mean what you do to your dog or cat.

Personally, I'd rather rig up something that continually looped a subliminal message to all the developers saying, "Factory colorization of armor is broken. Fix it now."


But hey, whatever works ...

Armor decay = pretty damn high


solution: make hq repair kits actually work like they were high quality, and repair armor well. Also make the armor repair skill tapes work.


Factory colors = borked


yeah just fix it.


Experimentation still too simplified, and we're not hearing that it's going to change.


solution: my correspondent knows the solution, please listen to him.






Now that it's OK to support the removal of classes in your signature, I firmly support the removal of all the benny hill glowstick fanclub from the game; it was a lot more fun before they came.

Well I think that armor repair should be the same way or maybe worse unless you take your stuff back to an armorsmith. That way you could get another source of income and it could promote more active armorsmiths.

As an armorsmith already affected heavily by the CU...even though it would be extra income I'd hate to think I'd get even more tells and mails then I already do


But that would be alleviated of course by your statement of more active armorsmiths hehe

I have seen this on the Jedi forums and seems to envoke good discussion from the community. Resulting in us venting in a positive way and giving yourself a way to put our concerns to the Devs in one thread.

1) a better way to load factories. way to much time spent there. i would like to see something like u enter the number of items u want made then something like a crafting screen pops up and u can filter the items in your inventory then double click the resource and the right amount of resources are transfered to the factory. drag and drop sucks ass especially for those who have inventory lag. Would also like to see a factory that loads wearable packs with the items u want put in them.


2) armor paint kits. all customers should be able to color there own armor. if they can color there own bikes with a paint kit then they should be able to do armor to.


3) a fix for factory color pallete, and vendor data missing.


4)find a way so all armor parts decay evenly. believe it or not armor lasts longer now. even thou hits take more condition off at least theprotection of the armor dosent reduce at 50% anymore and armor is now able to be made with better condition.


5) no way should we get a bonus to fix armor. i get way to many /tells now and that will only increase my /tell spam by 1000%


6) more quest armor.


7) take AUK's and paint kits(if they ever become part of the game) and give it to artisan or smuggler to craft.


8) make psg's a more effective part of the game. there not worth anything anymore.


9) armor needs to deflect more damage. pvp is over way to fast. and get rid of those stupid numbers and put in percent of damge reduced in examine screen. they did a very good display for weapons and armor should be the same and not so confusing.


10) make slicing more effective. and get rid of hinderance, its stupid as it is now.


11) give master merchant a storage vendor that dosent count towards all of the items we have for sale. AS is resource intensive as it is now and storage is even more of a problem now.


more will come to me later but for now this is only what came to my mind

I think not wanting to get tells is a weak reason not to want a bonus to repair armor. Armorsmithing isnt all put this and this in a factory, i think it would help newer armorsmiths gain loyal customers to help them get the funds around to make a run of armor. They're ways around getting tells, like putting up an auto reply that just says if you need repairing just offer it to your vendor at -xxx, xxxx

-armor is not unique, too many smiths are already hitting the caps (i.e. 7k energy unlayered recon), the only real difference is the skins


-people already getting too close to upper end cap (8200? kin/energy), high end armors are not much different, especially with resource kits


-overall lack of enhancements (I already have my +350 health suit, now what)



  • could fix this by adding +action/mind enhancements

  • add core enhancements (+action/health regeneration maybe)

  • remove +50 cap to health bonus

  • add recon segment/core loot drops

  • make lootable segments/cores actually usable (preCU acklay hides and krayt segs had really high condition and good resists, it is all crap now)

  • allow gloves/boots to take a segment (optional) so that they can be enhanced

  • allow RIS segments to take segment enhancer (that allows it to go above cap) to make RIS a more desireable armor, do something similar to Mandalorian (allow it to go above +50 cap, or add bonuses)

-need more to experiment on, make the 12 points actually worth something (one bar resists, one condition?)


-add sockets back to gloves/boots


-reduce factory time once again

-make other layers more desirable to use (only use primus, kin and energy), there is no reason at all to make any other layer
