Thread: how much are you paying for armor padding? and what percent
OMG...OMG...
100k per crate???? 25 pads per crate???
I met a tailor last night and she quoted me 10k...for a schematic (1000 pads). After working with her and explaining the experimentation process...I paid 30k. We spent about 15min, so she could play around with experimenting, trying for amazing successes...stuff like that.
Wow...I'm going to make sure I take good care of my new partner. Think I'll go give her some heavy leather and an apron schematic.
With the resources I had, she was able to get to 97% on the experimentation bar (4% base...there are hidden decimals).
I got a schematic that was 3% for 2k.....i threw it in my factory with some so-so quality resources......poof 500 armour padding for less then 10k.
Anyone charging 100k for a crate is a pirate and should be introduced to the business end of a rocket launcher.

yeah but if it only takes 5 segments per suit of armor, and ive seen the armor sell from 100k-300k
thats 500k an armorsmith makes at the very least and 80k for the padding doesnt seem so unreasonable if thats how much money they make per crate
I think it really depends on how much the armor is going for. When I was thinking about considering how much a set of wookiee armor goes for it is not because I plan to gouge or anything. If a suit goes for 150K, thencharging 200K for a crate (30K per suit) for the padding is not really unreasonable, I think. The padding is one of the expensive components because it is made almost completely of hides and is made up for by some of the cheaper resources. So for a 150K suit of armor, I could make 90%+ experimented segments and not feel like I am taking all the profit from the armorsmiths. If the suits only go for 40-50K a piece then asking 30K for just the padding is completely unreasonable. I would then justmake low-quality padding that doesn't cost me as much to make so I can sell for a lot less.

The 4% is what effects the armor on the combine. There's a hidden decimal though. Not sure how much of an effect it has...I've only made one suit. It may be that the effect is negligable...so 75% would be fine. As a rule, smiths are looking for the best they can get and if it effects the final piece by 1%, it will be noticed and possibly destroyed. The armorsmith community is incredibly competitive with the quality of suits they make.
I'm going to experiment a little with this. It would be nice to not have to use my good hides on this component.
The final armor is pretty light weight, so I don't worry about the HAM cost of this segment (or in the final combine).
As for the price. Charge what you think you can get. I'm going to be selling my armor for somewhere around(I'll probably regret posting this)75-100k per set. (basically between Chitin and Ubese in quality). This may change depending on how difficult to get and expensive the components are. I'll only be supplying how much I feel like making. Keep in mind, those same organic resources are used in the final combine...in a much higher quantity.
If you plan to make the pads yourself, I would recommend befriending people that are willing to hunt. You should be able to make decent deals to lower the price of the hide.
I payed a talior 100k for a Schematic that used mymaterialsfor the Padding... 3%Base and 6/7/6 HAMs Best we could pull out of my resouces...
with in 2 hrs of making the armor I had made roughly 1mill to 1.3 million from the time that i had the schematic and had sold the first suit... So I consider that a fair return of 10 fold...
I am going to go back to that talior and hand her All my LootSchematics and some heavy leather portions just too make sure she is happy and well feed so that I can keep getting schematics from her in the future..

Well, if it's true that base % on the segments don't matter, then you are ripping ppl off. No matter though, ppl like to abuse MAS because they think we are all rich.
I've always been of the idea "Get what you can". You sell it for that much, we have to sell the wookiee armor for a lot.

I wouldNEVER pay 80k a crate.
That is around 16cpu for the hides. I needed hides with at least 800s in OQ and SR to get 89% from them with very good fiberplast (900s for both OQ and SR) mixed in. I can't buy hides that good for prices even close to that low, so if people in my server were doing the same thing then it wouldn't be worth me making them. You have to ask yourself how much you or other people would spend for the hides if they were not turned into padding. If I can only get 16cpu for final product, but I can sell the materials to someone for 50cpu, then why should I make padding at all?

Every server is differen't on pricing. Perhaps Naritus is alot "cheaper" on goods, but I agree with you that if you are not making a good profit it is not worth your time. If resources sell for that high I imagine the armor that the smiths sell reflect the same high price, thus they are making a larger profit. Another idea is to make schematics for people at a flat rate.I paid my local Master Tailor 25k to make me 2 schematics. It took a few minutes of her time and to me was a fair price for the service. I think it will be interesting how Wookie Armor ends up. The consumer wants to pay 100k a suit but the resources to make a suit will sell for more if you include all the parts required.
