Thread: Sad to say, but it looks like Mandalorian armor isn't going to be worth making...

Even though the Death Watch Bunker is still closed, players are finding ways to get ahold of the loot inside. They're probably using the same exploits that were used to get into the Geonosian Biolab before it was officially opened. Anyways, some people have already managed to loot some pieces of BH armor. Here's links to some screen shots. The first one shows a player wearing a few pieces. The second and third screen shots show the stats for the chest piece and helmet respectively.

For those of you who don't want to go to the links, the armor's resistance is a pitiful 30%, with vulnerabilities to Stun, Heat, and Acid. HAMs are low, but you could still probably do better with unlayered, low-HAM composite.

Anyways, unless the "crafting" process forMandalorian gives a massive increase to resists and removes some of the vulnerabilities, the armor is going to end up being in the same boat as RIS. (Good for looks and nothing else.)

Another thing you'll notice is that the BH drops have no sockets, which lowers their worth even farther. I'd also be highly surprisedif the conversion toMandalorian adds sockets.

Well, if anyone was hoping that the introduction of BH Armor and Mandalorian would help to break up the monotony of Composite, I guess its time to think again. Beyond the intial thrill of showing off that you have something new, I thinks its fairly certain that BH Armor will see about as much use from players as Storm Trooper armor does.

I did some more comparision, and it looks like BH Armor drops have the exact same resistances and encumbrance as Storm Trooper Armor and Marine Armor... and going by how often those two armors are used, it looks like BH Armor is going to be an even bigger dud than RIS. I have to assume that not a single one of the Devs ever plays SWG, otherwise I don't have a clue how stuff like this could ever get green-lit.

here is BH armor what you need to be convert into Mandalorian Armor.

in your screenshot you post BH armor. Is crap armor with nice look. But its weak, because its component. I hope to see nice resist on Mandalorian armor

and thanks for info. I know now that BH armor is wearable and its armor. Not only cool looking component

Wrong about what? In my original post I make several references to the fact that BH armor pieces are used to make Mandalorian.

Don't count on it. Like I said in my first post, unless the Mandalorian conversion process triples the BH Armor's resists and removes some ofits vulnerabilities, its going to be inferior toeasy to get, high end composite. Also, I have a feeling that the "crafting" process for Mandalorian isn't going to add any sockets to the armor, which is going to lower its value significantly to all the high end players that like to use lots of SEAs to enhance their player.

You know, the recent state of game letter sent out by Rogue_5 indicated that part of the combat rebalance was to rebalance armor statistics.

It occurs to me that maybe this rebalancing is being seen with the Mandalorian armor. Maybe its a sign of changes to come. After all, there has been some mention from a few dev poststhat 90% composite is causing balancing problems.

We'll have to see what this rebalancing will bring. I'd like to see some of it on Test to play with a bit.

I doubt the authenticity of the screenshots one bit. Even before the bunker was open on test, people were luring one or two NPC's out of the bunker by drawing aggro and then killing them outside to loot them.

I'm honestly not surprised that the resists suck. They would have been better off to make bounty hunter armor craftable, give the same stats as comp, change some of the resource requirements around, and call it a day. Instead we've got another camp-fest item.

Considering what the resists are likely to be, I doubt anyones going to camp it for long.

People need to look at what they call good resists. 90% comp is pretty ridiculous and not that hard to make. Can't imagine something higher.

I disagree...

I think that this BH armor is much more like simplya segment enhancer... I feel it is entirely possible that we could still get 3 layer slots to work with here and then also end up with sockets during the creation... can you imagine if we could use a 30% base segment enhancer??? I can see us making incredible armor with this stuff...

But I know nothing about this death watch bunker so if someone could prove me wrong, plz do...

just an fyi on the DW NPCs and loot...

There is at least one place on endor that death watch NPCs are spawning TOPSIDE. I ran info a constant spawn of 2 or 3 a few thousand meters from where the bunker is. One doesn't have to do anything exploitative or even special to get the new loot drops (but be really lucky from what I've seen, looted 4 myself and ended up with like 1200 credits and some really beaten up armor for it).

i checked the screenies in the first post

I liked what I saw in the helmet

if you skip the resist and look at the description it says that it also gives information about the target. How awesome is that!!! It may tell us the current professions, or maybe the players resists and vunerabilities like it does if you examine a npc.

so......the helmet lets one examine their target in some way.......we are getting jetpacks (yes we are) and this armor may do other neat things (remember bobas and jangos bracers).

Just want to add my voice to the 'non exploit' crowd since its important to make this distinction now:

They spawn naturally on endor, and theres a respawn spot (though I dont know where it is)

You can loot the BH armour, and the bits for the DL-10 (or whatever its called) pistol and also probably the enhanced vibroknuckler thingy... the only thing you cant get at the moment is the mandolorian armour itself as that requires the stations inside the bunker, which isnt available.

While its possible that Mandalorian will have inherent skill mods or special abilities, I don't think BH armor is giving anything special. As for the BH Armor helmet's description saying that it gives "standard targetting information to the wearer," I think that that is nothing more than a fancy description of the helmet. There are quite a few people now on various servers that have looted the helmet and there hasn't been a single report of it granting any sort of bonuses or special abilities.

I've heard the Devs say that all new items are being designed with the combat rebalance in mind, however, even if that is the case, I still can't see this new armor being worth using. Unless they add schematic drops for BH armor, it is always going to have vulnerabilities to Heat, Acid, and Stun. Those are three pretty big vulnerabilities to have, and base resists of only 30% doesn't help the situation. Just for the sake of arguement, lets pretend that in the combat rebalance resists for composite are cut in half. Even after a nerf that massive BH Armor would still be inferior to Composite. The other big thing is that it has the exact same stats as Faction Armor. I mean, even if the Devs are dead set on BH Armor have 30% resists and three vulnerabilities, why not change around what those three vulnerabilities are? Giving it all the same stats as faction armor is a squandered opportunity to create a greater variety of options when it comes to choosing armor.

(Personally I wish they would just do the combat rebalance now rather than add newcontent that has its value diminished because all the items there are designed for a game system we won't be playing for another 3-4 months.)
