Yes, it's another tipping thread. Sue me

These are based on three hours spent in the Cantina in Naboo/Kaadara, 4:45 PM to 7:45 PM Saturday.

Total different customers: 44

Total $0 tippers: 18

Total $0 tippers that came back more than once: 4

Total $0 tippers from the same PA: 3

Total cash tips: $4176 (Yes, I got a $1 tip, but I think it was an accident.)

Total heals received: 61

Average tip: $241 (Counting each heal as worth $50, which might be high.)

Total expenses: $13,000. I trained both Musical Knowledge I and Musician's Fatigue Healing II.

Since I only made about a third of the XP I needed for my training, and earned money doing delivery missions both to and from the trainer, I'd have to say I broke even. On a Saturday night, though.

If you want to get rich in this game, play an artisan and grind it out until you can make hi quality weapons/armor/droids or whatever. If you want to have enough income to keep moving forward, play a combat type.

If you think entertainment is fun be an entertainer. I have played other games where they build in taverns and such for people to hang out and chat, but everyone would always go to the bank. (UO) SOE put going to the cantina (a real life hangout) into the game mechanics in an ingenious way. I play a musician as my primary, and I understand the need for tipping, but you don't get screwed.

Also, I have a plan for entertainers, or any poor player, to make more money by helping other classes with very little time away from the cantina. I have posted about this on the Intrepid galaxy board and hope to test it out soon.

To be honest with you, alot of people get healed and don't tip at all. That's just the way it goes. I didn't start entertaining to get rich, but I have made some decent money. Most people do no tip, but some people have tipped crazy amounts for very little healing. I mainly decided to entertain for the social aspect of the game. After I've gone to Master Musician, I plan on starting some other profession with a possibility of making money.

Really that sounds pretty good to me. If you made $4000 in one night of entertaining, you will surely recoup the other money spent on training in no time. I'm not all that familiar with the entertainer profession but that seems like it will turn a profit more often than not.

I have an entertainer character that I only play at certain times of the day simply because I know that I'll rack up good tips and healing xp during those times. That character is rolling in money. Also, the other entertainers that frequent that cantina frequently split the cost of training so that it is more affordable for everyone. Its a good bunch.

Such is the life of the struggling artist!

I think a couple of the entertainers on Flurry/Tatooine do well. Ero' and Dib have developed a following and are far and away the most advanced Entertainers I've seen. They draw in more creds, I'm sure, but it would be interesting to see how much.

Not the best profession to make money, to be sure. But I do some entertaining on the side (I'm an artisan) and I really enjoy banter with the crowds. I don't get tipped much (usually only 100-200 creds in a half hour) but I still have fun. I particularly like when a band or troupe really gets coordinated. It's a lot of fun that way, and that means more to me than creds.

Hmm... I was hoping for something a bit more than the cookie cutter replies, but OTOH I didn't add my own thoughts, so I suppose that makes sense.

Entertainers: does this seem like a typical "Saturday Night?" Do you tend to make more, or less? Would you be happy with that amount from three hours play?

Non-Entertainers: Do those numbers look like what you'd expect an entertainer to make on a typical "Saturday night?" Would you think an entertainer *should* be happy with that kind of revenue from three hours of play? Is it more, or less, than you would make in your class given that amount of game play?

Take the 4 digit number and run it thru the following formula:
0.011R - (0.5*10^-7)*R^2
The answer is the % protection it represents.

Mcgreag - Infinity - Master Smuggler - Rebel Colonel - Member of Legion
Hoshi - Infinity - Master Armorsmith - Member of Talus Trade Syndicate - RIS certed.
