Thread: question about segments

I have a character that recently gained the ability (with a little help) to take down some of the big stuff. I have acquired some Fambaa segments and I was wondering how much those usually go for on the market. I know prices will vary from server to server, but since padded really isn't in huge demand due to the advent of composite (I think), I thoughtI'd post here and get some thoughts. Thanks in advance.

Can anybody give me an opinion on this?

I am trying to make a schematic for armorweave segments. I am using the clothing and armor tool and using a +41 crafting station and can not make a schematic. Am I doing something wrong? If anyone could help me out please your help would be awesome.

Does your tool and craftingstation match? I know it sounds stupid, but do they?

I'm still new to AS, so I'm learning a lot. Thanks for all the great FAQs and guides, but there was one thing I can't seem to find. I made my first battle armor a couple weeks ago. The final combine came out with 5800ish protection. Obviously, I just need to keep watching resources and collecting better ones, but I was curious how high do my segments need to be in order to have a chance at hitting the cap. The segments I made were 920. I mostly just need to be patient and wait for good resources (still need to get the right stuff for assault and recon, too).

Before the resource-buff, I could barely cap battle armor with 948 segments - barely meaning that I had to use server-best for every single core-resource except phrik aluminum. It depends on your server, of course.

And you can cap the armor with only 948 segments?

working it out you can drop a maximum of 400 points off cap on your cores before you start to miss the cap.

At segs of 920 you are at 2760 out of a max of 3000 (already 240 points off cap)

which leaves you a maximum drop of 160 from the core combine meaning you need some really good core resources. So yes it is actually possible in theory to hit the cap using 920 segs but in practice you are not really going to do it due to resource limitations.

My recon segs are better but my core resources let me down a bit and after final combine I'm still short of cap

I guess I'll just keep resource hunting untill I get the right resources to hit cap without spending any more millions.

It's a two part process. You could have perfect segments and still not make cap if your core resources are bad.Segmentsaddup to 3000 to the armor and the core resourcescan add up to the other 3000 that make the core.Look at it this way.

The goal is to get to 6000. We will use Nixon's 948 segments. We have three of those added together and that will put 2844 points into the core (out of a possible 3000). We now need 6000-2844 = 3156 to reach the 6000 cap. The developers realized that we would never have all perfect resources and so the final combine gives us a free 400 points to help make up the difference. So 3156-400 = 2756. The core resources need to add at least 2756 to the core to reach the cap. (2756/3000 = 92%, so your experimentation on the core still needs to be greater that 92%).

Nixon's problem is bad core resources (which is apparently the server's fault not his ) I can reach cap with about a 920 segment because I have such great core resources. It all depends.

ahhhhhh....thanks a lot! I didn't understand the part about segments and cores each putting the possible 3000 into the final combine. Now it makes so much more sense. I knew both contributed, but I didn't know how. I'll have to start playing around with it now that I better understand the formula.

No problems. I'm going to bump a post that I have bookmarked. It needs to be a sticky in the worst way. Bookmark it, learn it, and bump it when the next person asks your samequestion!
