/agreed

also the best armorassociates both armor lootAND slicing it....

In your case loot would either be rancor/janta hides to up the base or NS shards to lower encumb pre slice

If you want the best PvP armor buy 5-10 suits of high quality stun layered armor and slice it. Anything loot made cant compare

OK - keep in mind these stoopid armor questions are coming from a BE . . .and a poli sci major to boot!

I'm eventually going to change my profile to become a Bounty Hunter and try my hand at PVP. I want to cruise the boards for a few weeks and get the BEST (well almost the best) Nightsister layers, feathers, scales whatever to give to my armorsmith to make me the absolute best PVP armor available.

The problem is I'm too ignorant to even know what to look for. What do you guys suggest I can get for armor loot? Nightsister layers? If so, what are good stats to look for and price? Is it krayt scales? Peko Peko feathers?

Also - what do your pros recommend for a good, balanced PVP armor set that won't get me slaughtered in PVE? I hear folks advocating just gettiing stun helms and chests with 40% + stun, then there are others who say you need a whole suit and still others that say you don't need stun resistence, just no stun vuls.

Thanks a bunch!!!!

bounty hunter + pvp = wasted time - this coming from a pistols bh/pistoleer

If you're going to want to pvp, the best thing you can do is just buy the highest stun armor available on your server. Hopefully you can get it sliced to over 80% on the other stats. If not, then you'll have to do with high 70%'s on the base. I almost forgot the PSG, grab yourself a good PSG and slice it for effect. I currently have 45% baseImperial PSG's(including stun).

My BH wears 35% stun with 75%+ base chest and helm since most people hit there, and has quite a few unsliced 45% base Imperial PSG's.
The chest and head is a REQUIREMENT, The only reason I don't wear the rest, is because I know if I'm hit elsewhere, it's probably too late to run since they're probably a fencer or melee profession.

Peko Feathers are for RIS layers. Rancor hide is an armor segment enhancer, but Janta Hide is better...Janta Hide has no extra encumberence. NS shards are used as armor layers for armor segments, same with NS layers. Basically, the only GOOD enhancers or drops are from Krayts, Jantas, Nightsisters, and Voritors (4% Kinetic, 3% Energy). Keep in mind that Krayt Composite Segments are terrible, unless they have a HIGH base.

I'll confess I have a secret hankering to make myself a suit of armor using 1 stun layer, 2 ns layers and a ns shard.

The stun layer just 5% stun or so to block the stun vuln, and then ns layers to add tons of base. Then after slice I get a light stun armor with either super high base, or insanley low hams.

Except for the helm which would of course be triple stun layered with a ns shard.

Tthat is what i make for myself. mostly high base with 1 small stun layer. My main is a MBH, as a MBH i get hit by everything. i found that high base % with a 4% stun layer works really well for me. Thereonly afew things in this gamethat i can not solo, simply because that have too much ham and i can not out last them.when i enough janta hides or ns layers, i make as many chest plates, helmets and pants as i can. janta hides are a nice way to get 3 or 4% more base. it gives me a better change to hit 90% with an effect slice. Yes these extra few% above 80% makes a big differents to me as a MBH

Ok - so Janta hides are my best bet eh? What qualifies as a "good" Janta hide? One with 4%? What is a fair price for them?

What about NS shards and layers? What stats are good for them?

If I wanted to make a full suit with the light stun layer (except for the helm with heavy stun) how many hides/shards/layers would I need?

Personaly I prefer high base (90%) and low stun.

Main reason being that low stun + a good sliced imp PSGs with stun in the 60% is still good enough to defend against most stun attacks,

And there are many smart players around that switch to another damage type when they see their stun weapon doing low damage.

I am set in that case when someone with a 65% base helmet is still gonna take a hard beating from a t21.....

Just today I made 4 90% base 13% stun helmets and one 90% base 13% stun chest ( another helmet was 88% and had 1 helmet, 2 pants , 1 boots and 1 biceps that got ham slice, second biceps got sliced only to 89% =(). This is all post sliced but I make the armor good enough that statistically about 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 pieces is gonna be sliced to 90% base...

Once I have full set it should be 90% base 13% stun and ham around 760 for mind....

PS : Besides the difference btw 13% stun and 40% is nowhere near as huge as between 80% base and 90% base...

If someone hits you for 1000 damage with stun ap 1 weapon in one case you take 870 damage, in the other 600 ( disregarding the psg for maths).

If someone hits you for 1000 damage with energy ap 1 weapon, in one case you take 200, in the other 100, which is half

As not everyone does stun damage I would actually argue the higher base armor will last longer than the high stun medium base one .....

Ok - low stun seems to be winning the race so far. Are hides, shards and NS layers worth it though?
