I was wondering what Rangers think about you getting the Mandolorian Armor cert.

But I somehow doubt that this hasn't been adressed before, so could someone show me where that thread is?

Why I dont understand the reasoning for rangers with mando armor. I see the use for ranger skills
with BH the traking is a great help. But as a stand alone prof why Rangers and not say CH or combat medic. Mando I feel should be a BH only armor they are the only people that wear it anywere in the SWU they are eather mercs or BHs.

Not saying rangers dont need some love I just feel this is one of those well rangers are rare so lets through them a bone.

I agree with you here, Tarannis. I see no reason why we should get the Mando Armor. If we want it, we should have to get at least Novice BH. I don't see why rangers should be considered in the same vein as BH, as we are completely different. That's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

The current form of Ranger is not something that the community finds acceptable. We are pushing for the Devs to make us a lot more than an Uber Scout. Along these lines, many Rangers are pushing for the profession to become the stealthy element of an army, also acting as debuffers (from the wayfaring and advanced trapping lines, respectively). Such roles would make us essential to any well planned army, providing scouting information and applying various state effects to the enemy. This sort of Ranger would fit with the Mandalorian cert and with the GCW endgame that the Devs are proposing. I'm not even going to comment on giving the armor to CHs or CMs. And the Mandalorians were a very militaristically minded race. They would need Scouts in their army. They didn't need Medics or pets.

As for the link to a previous discussion on this, check this thread.

The others are being nice. I am not nice -

We don't care what BHs think. Take your KMart specials and move along - nothing to see here.

Technically - only commandos should get the cert. The armor is military, so are they.

The reason it hasn't been discussed much here is simple - we don't much care, most of us don't wear armor. We don't have to, we are smarter than our prey and don't get hit.

have a nice day, go find something you can find and kill.

Hmmm. I think putting Mandolorian armor into the game under any circumstance is wrong, regardless of who is getting certs for it.

As far as Rangers getting it....well, since I've never actually seen or read anything official on what Mandolorians are/were, what they did, etc. it is hard for me to know whether or not the certs fit the EU or not.....

I still say that Mandalorian Armor will NOT look like Fett's armor. That will make me exceedingly happy!

it is indeed weird that they give heavy armor to a ranger. A ranger should wear camouflage, not a heavy armor suit. I was actually expecting smuggler to have the cert.

Personally i was expecting all professions to be able to use it, but since certs were mensioned the devs got it bang on.

From what i was reading in the concept forum the mandolorian armour set we see in the films is Mandolorian Scout Armour, much lighter than mandolorian assault and battle armour sets.

The sets were dominantly used by the scout units who would be the trackers and pathfinders for the whole squad.

Maybe its just me but it sounds perfect for the ranger ideal.

Some pure combat players may be frustrated that they cannot get it and the obvious knee jerk reaction of WHY ARE RANGERS GETTING IT?!!!!!! is prety much expect but imo the devs have obviously thought about this and got it spot on.

As for smugglers having mandalorian armour, it might just be me but i couldnt possibly imagine my perception of what a smuggler being wearing mandalorian. A smuggler to me is a dirty fighter who fights in bars, in backstreets, a quick talking and proficiently deceptive. Why would they need to wear mandalorian when infact most of the time they will be avoiding conflict all they can, and when they do encounter resistance they use dirty fighting techniques to win battles. Sorry but i just dont agree that smugglers would be an acceptable profession to get the cert.

Aren't they revamping Ranger to be more combat oriented with the combat balance? Even then it is odd that rangers get this cert *shrug*.

Why though? This i cant get

If we were to be fully creature centric then sure, why would we need mando. However, since we are being involved in the CB and especially the popular view of the ranger community that we do have a role in pvp, creature and npc combat leads me to disregard this question instantly.

Its madalorian scout armour that we saw in the films. Something that was used by the madalorian pathfinders and (combat orientated vission) rangers if you will because it was light and effective. The assault and battle armours were used by the heavy grunts.

Personally i think a pathfinding role within combat, being the front man and scout of the groups and combat is exactly the ideal i myself andalot of others are looking for and i cant see nothing wrong with us getting a cert to use armour that was designed for this purpose.

Yes, a ranger can wear the armor. But, you must be a master ranger. The other professions that can wear the armor are Master Bounty Hunter, Master Squad Leader, Master Commando
