Actually Armour was old english. I think from the early ren period.

Spellings like armour, colour, theatre, and aluminium are all British. Perfectly correct in the UK and hopefully acceptable elsewhere.

Not only is the there a U in armour, I can say with some certainty, there is now an FU in armour.

british englsih which is english english does lots of things differently.

what we call crisps you call potato chips

what we call chips you call fries

armour to armour

aluminium for your aluminum

we say gauge you say gage

we say defence you say defense

honour to us is honor to you

programme our english is program american english

catalogue is catalog

you see a kind of theme running ?
