I know my armor is too heavy. Is there any adivce on what numbers my layers should be at inorder to achieve optimal results. Majority of my resource are some of the best out there. Some could use alittle improvement. I've spent too much money in resources.(18 fusions fund this hobby). It all started from attempting to make a few suits for guild mates since I had to do it for a holo well it snowballed really really fast. Next thing I knew i was spening 20cpu on this and 50cpu on that and i was like ah shi!t anyway. point being is without spending 3mil per +1 in tapes do you have any advice for my armor?? I'll take all the critisism aslong as you give me some help thanks gang

Well, your suit is heavy, but not *too* heavy. At least not to everyone. If you make several sets and offer them for sale on a vendor, you'll see how they are received by the buying public. I know that there are players who care not a whit about HAM, and only look at the resists. They'll end up buying *several* of your suits and take them to a slicer, for the purpose of getting 1 set fully sliced for encumbrance.

If you still think they're heavy, then drop fewer experimentation points into Quality and more into Durability, at the Layers level mostly, but also at the Segment and final combine level if you wish. You need to experiment with your resources and decide what your goal is. I'm a new MAS myself, but I do very well selling 80% Kin / 68% Elec / 59-60% Base suits at ~ 720 / 641 / 732 HAM. Some will say that's *too* heavy, but many are snapping them up.

So give them a try, and see what happens.

yeah my armor does sell b/c like you said alot don't care about the HAM costs, but I'm trying to improve were I can. Thanks for the info. I have been moving some. I have them priced around 270k a suit. and have sold several. if it sells i guess i shouldn't screw with it, but I know I should be able to make better some how anyway thanks bro and good luck

hmmm well.. try going with 6% kinetic, and 1 point into base, the rest into ham (layers). I use some of the best stuff to spawn on eclipse, and i'm getting about 200 ham less then you. extra points also help, but you're ham is still a wee high for 10 pts. try bringing kinetic down to 6%, and keep base at 2% with one point into it. it should decimal out to either 60 or 61% depending on what resources you use. your ham can drop a few points per layer that way. just from looking at layers (3% 7% 10/11/11) I can tell you they're too heavy. you want a total of 80% kinetic, so why overkill? right now 3*7% is 21-23 (decimals) and your base is at 62%. thus, you're wasting 3-5%. Bring base down to 61%, and use 6% layers (with decimal) and you'll see 79-80% kinetic. if you need that last little umph, try doing 2 points into base, but leaving it at 2% (dont remember how many it takes to get to 3%, but think it's like 3? 4?) with the right experimentation, you should be able to knock off a bunch of ham.

Hope I helped ya a bit Last thing, go to a research center, and keep trying schematics until you get an amazing sucess in either base, ham, or kinetic (or 2 or 3). This adds 1% per point used, and will push you over the edge (via decimals) if you can't get there normally.

Here's my line of armor I did a while ago:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=eclipse_trade&message.id=93499

did a 200 suit run, so I'm still selling that off (taking a break from AS while I grind silent professions)

you can make 80% kinetic with only two layers, that'd lower the ham =)

I have been making some 7% kinetic, 2 % base layers, 4/4/4 HAM. Using this would change the above armor into...

59% base (possibly 60% if the layers rounded up)

67% elec

80% kinetic

and a HAM of 648/562/657 for the whole suit.

This is targeting the layers to hit the 80% cap exactly, I think this would be a better all round suit than the one you make....

Have you considered using electric layers?

With decent resources, you can get the base high enough to acheive 80%+ base through slices.

I haven't had anything sliced yet, so don't know where it will get you.

I just made a suit...60-61% base that's light enough to wear unbuffed. Can't wait to get it sliced. I should be able to get better base, but a couple of my resources aren't the best. I'm going to run a bunch of this. Won't matter which slice I get...it'll all be good.

how about this try using 6% kinetic instead of 7%. use the extra pts to experiment on encumberance or effectiveness.

an extra point in the base effect would possibly yield 4% base or it could total up to 29% base segments.

for my high encumberance suits i used the following. 4% base, 4% cold layers with 10/10/10 enc.

segments came out to have 33% base 14% cold and low 40s enc.

final product saw 80% cold 79% electric and 71% base with an encumberance of 808/729/812

one of the major differences is that im a 12 pts smith. i could have done the same thing with 10 pts but i would have had a bit higher encumberance

Thanks for the advice gang i'll try some things and let you all know what i come up with. also 1 more question if i do the electrical route which i had been thinking of doing how many layers should i use? just one? will that raise the base up enough??

The best thing to do is make some gloves, because they only require one segment. Thus no factory runs. The only thing they won't show you is the total HAM. But you can get an idea of how heavy the set's going to be after you've played around with it for a while.

I use electric layers so I can keep everything as a base resist. That way a slice will cover everything but electric. I've heard that if you can get 70% base, it's pretty easy to get above 80% on a slice. Once you put a resist into the special catagory, a slice doesn't effect it. So 80% would be the max in special.

If you're just going for high base comp, and aren't worried about the weight, put all points into effectiveness. After you've reached the max wearable HAM, it doesn't really matter how heavy it gets. Unless you're hoping for an encumbrance slice.

Personally, I like to make stuff that can be worn without buffs. It's a challenge and I like to hunt. I don't have an alt master doc either.

I make 2/6 1/1/1 layers and 26/21 12/12/14 segments and I get a final combine that is 80 Kinetic/69 Electric/61 Base with a total HAM of 1525. Yes, I think your suits are extremely heavy. More points into HAM and less into base and kinetic. At some point you are simply wasting points (especially on the Kinetic).

dova i am guessing you hav 12 points??

b/c how else can you get 1.1.1 layers??
