Thread: Selling suits in bags vs as parts

Do you sell your armor as suits in bags or as parts? Why do you prefer one over the other?
I've mostly been selling armor in bags lately, but a customer came to me and wondered why we AS did that anyway. He had some compelling arguments for going over to selling parts, but I'm still undecided. Is selling armor in a bag just tradition?

i sell in parts, but i do stock more chest, helm, pants, and boots then the armor pieces.
i also sell the center pieces in crates of 5s

I orginally sold a bunch of ceremonial in Bags at the time of its release..
But then i started getting the tells that the bag was empty and that I sold them nothing... I then would have to proceed toask themis the Bag taking up 5 inventory spaces?? then tell them: Drop the bag in a house... as Most of the Servers take a while to get the stuff that was in the bag to the bags new location...
So after a few tells like that I just quit placing them on the vendor that way..
So Now its just Extra Chest plates, and extra leggings and fewer bracers of all the wookiee armors..
I am no longer doingsuit bags due to a few people calling me a cheat with out going through the things I told them to do... and then having them turn around and say they where sorry a day later because the suit showed up...

I do it in pieces always and not in bags unless it's a special order. If someone doesnt want a pair of boots they shouldnt have to buy them is my feeling. they are welcome to buy all 9 items if they want all 9. Plus I also have presliced vendors as well and of course i'm not going to bag those.

One fear I have is that it will be hard to keep track of what I have in stock and for people to find what they want when they're buying.
I sell two colors of ubese, black padded, two types of kashyyykian and five types of comp. That's quite a few different armor pieces to keep track off, even when I have the different categories on different vendors.
Another problem might be wooly hide. While it isn't so hard to get 10k for a suit of composite, getting 90k for a full run of each part might.

i sell in bagsbecause it is easier to stock more suits and less confusing to the customer if you clearly label it.

i sell both but i have ALWAYS put armor in packs and put an emphasis on full suits in packs..i stock about8 different kinds of armorat any given time, 4 kinds of comps, ubese, and wookie armors. i actually think i was the first armorsmith to put armor inpacks on bloodfin way back by launch (at least it was my brilliant idea so i like totake credit for it..can't prove it tho) i remember tasius (old bloodfin smith)who would offer dealsif ppl orderedfull suits instead of pieces and ithen pieced together the pack way of doing it without having to deal 1 on 1 with customer trade. anyway..like i said i sell these mainly andsell very well...what i like is its very orgainized can be colorful and creatively named with hex colors and text. very easy for the customer to go...ok thats75% ubese set...thats a pvp& hunting suit with 80kin/80/70 base. i do stock pieces for those who just need a piece or2...i could make TONS more money by going the sliced armor route nowor many many months ago...but i don't believe in that. pricing armor up based on a random smuggler slice that cost like 3-5k per piece.for a 90% suit on bloodfin a person can buy about 5 full of my suits and get em sliced and put together a nice resist set and have lots of armor left over to grind with or whatever. thats myview on it..plus its easier for me... i get less mailsthat are woth more instead of tons of little ones and i can tell quickly what is selling the best and adjust accordingly (best advantage probably). i also don't have to worry about all the chests or helms going first and having tons of gloves and bracers still on the vendors (which is what happens if u do pieces)
thats my take onpacks..if they everhad itso it could not be done anymore i think i would quit armorsmith, it would lose to much of the "art of it" in my opinion.

I've sold around 300 composite suits in the past month or so, packaged in bags on my vendor. Haven't had a single problem yet, and some customers have thanked me for the convenience of only having to buy a single item, as opposed to nine.
I made sure to label all the relevant stats clearly as well. Package selling seems to work for me

There are obvious arguments both ways. As a fairly new MA I feel I haven't earned the trust of my customers to sell in bags. Thus I sell all in parts...for now. But...We all need armor parts at diff times so I thinki we as MA have to have parts on our vendors as well.

I have both but the bagged suits are cheaper than if you bought all the pieces. Because I put the HAM details in the description it might take a nudge more time to put it up in bags, but.. I don't have to worry about someone saing "I bought thus and so parts but you're out of this and that part and I need it now". The only problams I have had with selling bagged suits is those people I need to lead by the hand (practically with my hand on their mouse) through the search function to find the full suits. But those are the people who have no clue what the "Next Page" button is for *sigh*. The bane of being well stocked and not have a vendor for -each- armor type and variation. Then again... I carry 5-8 differnt variations of Composite, 3 on Ubese, 2 on Padded, Kash Ceremonial, and am adding Kash Black Mt, and at least 3 variations on Kash Hunting while still offering (even on the vendor) the "lesser" armors as I can find time to get them made (and I sell out of them any time I do put them up, not in days, but before the end of the month generally). Yes.... I know... I'm a bit daft.

I only do chest, boots, gloves, helmets for pieces. I've been trying to stay away from full suits since a good potion of my server know about the bug.

I like to see both personaly when im shopping for armor , I can get a whole sett in a bag then buy a couple extra chest plates

Full Suits (Bags)
Armor Pieces (No Bags)
I like to keep mainly helmets, pants, chestplates and boots, ubese shirts, ubese bandoliers, and repair Items
I only have composite armor on the pieces vendor, ranging from Kinetic/Energy Just Kinetic or stun pieces...
and every once in a while when a run has gone wierd (I get the wrong base after making a full run of segs)
I'll turn my segs into armor and sell it...
