Thread: Ackley Bone Armour
I've made some pieces, and the first thing I recommend, is use Green cubes instead of yellow. The condition without the green cube is going to be <10k and with the green >16k, this is more important than raising the base by 4-5%... especially considering the only resists in base are restraint and elec. I did do a piece with 2 heavy energy layers, a NS shard, and a green cube. The result was leggings with 69% energy res, 15k condition, and very low Enc #'s. The yavin bones needed in the segment are very poor on my server right now, so with decent bones, you'll be in the 70%'s easily with the energy resists. The problem is, as I mentioned, the fact that there's only restraint and elec in the base resists.
The piece that I'm impressed by is the Helm. I used 2 stun layers, and a green cube. I failed right away on the first experiment on special res, so my energy % bottomed out at like 20%-something. Excluding the poor energy% on this particular helm, this will make an intriguing PVP helm. The potential here is to have a Helm with 15-16k condition, around 40% energy resists, around 25% stun resists, and a mind enc of <100...mine had an enc of 79, and thats with no seg enhancer, and no experimenting on durability on the stun layers.
One important thing to remember: you get 5 "uses" of this schematic. A "use" can either be a finished prototype segment, or a schematic for a seg. Being that the power cubes all have serial#'s, any factory runs will be severely limited, but still better than using up a "use" for one segment. I'm on Tarquinas, the quality of your materials will vary, and so will your results to some degree, but these are the basics that I've learned to this point.

I got some feedback from weaponsmiths that factory schematics ignored serials on white cubes. Sounds like you could do full factory runs with white cubes if you're willing to forego the bonuses the other colors give.

I'm pretty certain this is an exploit, similar to the no-serial krayt tissue exploit. Use at your own risk, I suppose.
I wouldn't consider it an exploit on the same level as the no-serial krayt tissues. Weaponsmiths were using those to get legendary stats on power handlers from run of the mill +30max / -0.3s tissues.
As the white cubes give no bonuses to any stats, the only possible exploit would be the ability to do full factory runs of items that would otherwise be limited by enforced serials on loot components. I'm one of the biggest anti-exploit people on SWG, and I have to think that since the red/yellow/green cubes don't behave in the same manner (serials are enforced on those) that this is actually intended.
Hmm, I should have known better than to cite a weaponsmith friend of my weaponsmith friend. Lord only knows where that guy heard it from. Sorry.

Well my white cubes are NOT interchangable, perhaps cubes with no serial will work but i've yet to see them
Well made some stuff using my blasted white cubes, still came out spiffy
66% Energy resist 17% Restriant/elec
Helm enc 42/46/77
Leggings enc 53/92/38

Ah, I didn't catch that the cube used in the schematic was unserialed. Now I get it, and it does seem a bit shady.

Weaponsmiths were correct. I have 20+ white cubes, one of them doesn't have serial number. So you could use it to create schematic for a lot of segments. Don't know if it's an exploit, though.

mmm mmm gotta love that encumberance....
The low condition is a killer though. I think I'm going to focus on making just stun layered helms with whatever green cubes I can get my hands on. Of course, if I can find a batch of these "no serial#" white ones, I'll do a factory run of 'em.
