Thread: Mid 60's on kinetic chitin not good enough!?

I've got a bunch of awesome resources for chitin laying around from pre-mastery. Leathery, scaley, and wooly hides with 1800-1900 to OQ+SR. Dantooine animal bones and doonium with 1800-1900 to OQ+SR. In short, every resource that's going in has 1800-1900 OQ+SR (and usually very good MA).

Last night someone asked me what kind of kinetic I was getting on my chitin. With only 8 points I was hitting the low 60's with two boxes empty on resisitance, so I guessed and said that with 11 points I could hit mid to high 60's with advanced chitin. This guy said he was looking for better. Short of using a segment enhancer, I don't see how it really could get better, especially considering most (if not all) of the other masters on my server don't bother with chitin.

You wouldn't get much better. Mid sixties is real nice for chitin.

You always get the standard "I want the best armor!" you reply with your stats, and they as "Can you make better?" I just try to ignore it

Hi!

I do specialise in chitin armor. I'm not master yet but i have tech 4 (7points).

I use good resources exept for doonium iron with about 950 (SR+OQ)

With the use of voritor scale, I hit 58% kinetic. If i was master, That would be about 64%.

I hope this help!

Mid 60's is all your probably going to get. I'm a master and using some really good resources i can hit 65% tops. That is so great armor considering how light it is.

Don't let this customer make you feel bad. That Chitin is a very HIGH quality Chitin. Problem is, most people are used to Ubese & Composite stats which are much higher. However, the HAM is 2-3 times that of chitin. I mean, 70% Kinetic Ubese is awsome and you can usually hit that mark only when you add an extra layer (which means higher HAM).

62%-65% for unlayered? Please, that's an awsome armor you're making. Hold onto those resources, especially the wooley, and try making it again when you hit Master. Hell, hold an auction. There's a HUGE, untapped market for high resists & low HAM armor out there that people don't go into. However, I would recommend against producing Chitin exclusively. The bones & hides requirements are WAAAAAY to high to make it profitable. Especially, with the pricing of 50-80cpu for a high-grade bones & hides.

What he said.

Honestly that is some supreme chitin. The thing that gets people is comparign the HAM costs to kinetic layered Ubese. Chitin is higher still because it's 7 pieces on Ubese to 9 on Chitin. I would love to see more people wearing this stuff as it was the first armor I made pre-master, that made me feel like I was makign something special.

I wear mine proudly and swith my title to Master Armorsmith when people (basically) laugh at me for wearing cheap armor. I tell them, maybe I know something you don't . Ubese is the better armor for the most part, but the secondaries on Chitin is much better.

What are the secondaries on Chitin? What are the vulns?

Been a long time since I seen any good stuff, but I sold a heap of Dantooine animal bone to a guy the other day, and I bet that was going into armor. Might want some at 60% or better and low HAM. Looks great too, only helmet that looks good on a Rodian

Base resists are in energy, acid, blast, and (I think) restraint. Vunerablities are heat, cold, electricity and stun.

With the materials I was talking about above, the base resists come out around 16%. That's will full experimentation into the special protection. Now that I'm master and have 11 points to play with instead of 8 I'd still throw the extras into HAM, leaving the base at around 16%.

That's some good stuff you have there. I agree, wait until master and then crank out some good suits. And you could probably sell that for a good profit. I am making Non-advanced chitin right now since dantooine animal bone is/was pretty crappy. But once I get some good animal bone (I harvest everything myself) I will be making advanced suits myself.

Of course, with the resource requirements and harvesting myself I cannot make big runs on it that I could with composite (I just made master the other day) but since there are already established masters that produce composite better than I could ever do I am avoiding comp. And I like making the chitin that I put on the bazaar for newer players. It sells in 24 hours or less (3-4K for 33-36% kinetic resists non-advanced chitin chest plate).

Good luck and have fun. And don't listen to those, how do you spell it?...L33t d00ds?

Was a little bored waiting for some layers to run through the factory. Threw a rancor hide in...

65% kinetic, 23% energy/blast/restraint/acid, 5% heat/cold, vunerable to stun and electricity.

I think 65% may be the cap for chitin, but I didn't pay attention to the percentage. I had two points left over when I hit 65% on kinetic.

Yeah I have to agree with everyone else, that's pretty awesome Chitin!

Most customers really only what is percieved as the "best" out there (namely composite and layered, adv ubese).I got a tell tonight from a guy who wanted "uber Ubese." I said "define uber" with the only response of "kinetic." Ummm, way to narrow it down. Since axidite iron hasn't spawned on our server in about two months (if it has I haven't seen it), the only thing i got is regular ubese with a kinetic layer... about 52% resists. Sure, it's not "uber" but I figure that's pretty decent. I tell the customer my stats, to which he replies "Oh, I wanted 70%".

Mid 60's on Chitin? Don't listen to the weenie (in fact, pop him on Ignore).

Ubese hits 70s..at DOUBLE the hams. With slicing and spices (theoretically) under contraband...a 10% difference in defense for twice the ham cost..that's just foolish. The only reason I use Ubese is it's the only armor I can actually recognize from the films, and Chitin looks too Anime for me (so sue me..I can't stand Anime)

You could sell that for a pretty credit to anyone who knew what they were talking about (speakin of which...Do Tusken rifles still do Kinetic? if that's the case, you got some Uber Tusken run armor there man. cut weight in half, and lost only 10% of the resistances...rock on) What Galaxy you on?

No I don't have a freakin sig. Just make something up and pretend it's here man. woman. umm...Whatever.
