Thread: new as question
thanks..
one more question
when i do factory runs of armour do i use a wearables factory or an equiptment factory ?
also does the level of experimentation on the fiber panels / synth cloth affect the overall quality of the finished product ?

Wearables for the SynthCloth, RFP's, & Fiberplast panels.
Equipment for the Master Artisan componets that go into PSG's. (Energy Distributors & Power Conditioners).
Overall quality on the items not made by Master Armorsmiths do not factor into the armor's quality. As a matter of fact, you can't experiment on any of the Tailor Items. Master Artisan components can be experimented on, but it's pretty much proven to have no affect on the PSG's at all.
IF he is managing to reach 80% kinetic from less than 3 layers hes not doing too badly, however the ham cost alone from 2 layers that are fully experimented in special resistance IMHO is not worth it.
i.e. each layer will prolly have a ham cost of 15/15/15 or worse, so a final segement with this layer would already have 30/30/30+ cost, however if you can experiment on the HAM first you could get a layer of about 5/5/5+, with enough resistance to hit 80% in the end product with 3 layers, however rather than having 2 layers with a cost of 30/30/30 you would now have 3 layers at a cost of 15/15/15 and still hit the same end resistance. granted this is dependant on your current resources but the maths dosnt lie.
Make some gloves with no layers in the segment. What is your base? Subtract that from 80. The remainder is what you need to have in total of base+specials in the kinetic layers. So if your unlayered comp is 50% then you need 30% base + kinetic in your layers. If you make layers that add up to more than 80 you are wasting points. I did this when I first started and sure, I made 80% kinetic comp but it was heavier than it needed to be.
Now that you have your target (30 in this example) you have to play with it. Make a layer and and see if you can get to 8% kin, 2% base and still lowering the ham. Remember while you will probably use 3 layers they don't all have to be the same.
Also (if you have resources) experiment, experiment, expleriment. Even in a research city and with foods I still may make 10-20 layer schems before I get a keeper.
