Thread: Armor hole.....
The hole will be your arms (left and right bicep and bracer slots), assuming you are wearing a helm, chest plate, and leggings. There is one cyber arm that acts like armor with 6000 resists across the board (the melee one), but the rest act as zero armor.
The mabari jacket covers the chest and all four arm slots (and uses the corresponding number of resources). However, you cannot wear it (or the ubese jacket) with a cyborg arm installed.
Having no armor protection in the area where you have cybernetics is the offsetting penalty to whatever benefits they provide.
So the mabari chest, pants and ubese helm is hole free then. And thanks ![]()

But what if you are a tkm? cyber arms wouldn't cause a hole then?
I haven't read any tests with an armorless TKM using a cyber arm, so I'm not sure.
One more quick "Hole" question.......
Lets say I do have 2 cyber arms. How is that equated to the damage I take. I have never understood how that works. Basically, I'm wondering if missing the protection on my arms is worth having the beifits of thse cyber arms. And this is for ranged.... Thanks much

Basically, when you get hit, the damage is taken by a certain part of your body. Sometimes it's your head, other times it could be your legs, and then the next time it just might be your forearm (bracer). The most common areas are the legs, chest, and head. With cybernetics, if you happen to get hit on the arms, you'll take full damage (well, after calculating your melee/range defenses first of course). So it's possible to take some heavy damage that way.
Now, I have a friend with 2 cyberarms that work together to give him a rifle range of 82 meters. For him, it's worth the loss of protection on the arms to have that (I would agree!). I think it really comes down to your personal preferance and playstyle. If it helps any, I know he can solo lvl 84-85 creatures with his template and the arms, so it can't be that huge of a differnce (he has come CM though too I think).
Ok, so basically it is random then. I would have a 1 in 3 chance of getting hit in the chest/arms.
Now lol....I can you you say "oh great".....Would a "body shot" from a pistoleer shot strictly hit the body then? Or is it still random. thanks again. I at least understand this stuff better.....
No, it doesn't. That I do know. Body shot used to target a specific area pre-cu, but post cu, it just gives a damage multiplier andhits a random spot.

The CU mucked up a lot of the location-specific shots. Eyeshot is a good example. Pre CU, it always hit the head (as one might expect since there are eyes up there), but now it is purely random.
If I were you, I'd do a test with a buddy and pop20 or 30body shots and see where they land. An easy way to see if they stay on the body (torso+arms) would be to only wear a chest and arm pieces. That way, any shots that hit the legs or head would not have their damage reduced.
In case you were unaware, there is a detailed message option in your combat log setup that will allow you too which shots are affected by armor - the data given is the initial shot damage and the amount of that blocked by the armor.
If you do test it, please post back here ![]()
edit: Looks like the leezard has tested bodyshot already. I personally have done eyeshot, and if neither are location-specific anymore, I'd wager that no attacks are.
