Thread: What other profession(s) would you combine with Master AS ?
I was going to do another profession with this, but I spend all my time doing armorsmithing and have never got around to the second prof. I have mastered artisan and merchant so I can place alot of vendors, register on the map, etc and make some weapon power-up and vehicles if I have the time. Alot of smiths get x3xx tailor because there are some tailor components that we need for armor, but tailors sell them cheap and I don't mind throwing some business their way. Also, many smith's pick up smuggler to buy their own faction points if they make faction armor. Not a necessity, but nice for the self-sufficient.
I would avoid picking up weaponsmith or maybe even chef at first, because it is difficult to find so many specific resources that they all call for.
Master armorsmith, master artisan, master merchant, and 0300 tailor leaves you 29 skill points and lets you make all your own subcomponents and gives you all the merchant perks.
Master armorsmith, master smuggler, and 0004 merchant gives you the ability to buy faction, get a discount on faction schems, slice, and have 10 vendors with a healthy number of items. You're level 54, but your survey skills are really weak though. I'm master AS, 4440 smuggler, and 0004 merchant so I could have the full survey line.
Those are two of my favorite templates.

FYI Once you register your vendors, you can drop advertising, and they'll stay registered.
Master AS
Master Merchant
Master Artisan
Tailor: x/2/x/x
Driod Engineer: x/x/x/3 - this allows you to craft the seeker and probe driods
FS Crafting: 4/4/x/x (exp and assembly)
FS Sense: x/4/x/x (surveying)
and you still have 2 pts left over.
Me?
Master Artisan (some schematics at the master level other profs need, plus those new vehicle repair kits (BARC kits) go for a pretty penny)
Master Armorsmith
Master Tailor
As much Merchant as I can get by with.
Tailor used to be a lot more fun if you were into interacting with others -- I'd head into the Mos Eisley, Theed or Coronet Cantinas, pull out a crafting droid, and make a killing creating outfits for people on the spot. Entertainers used to buy dozens of different outfits, hehe. Of course, while it may be heresy to mention this on this board, making factory runs of 4 socket boots and gloves is a good seller too, since post-CU armor boots and gloves have the same amount of protection (none) and NO sockets....

yup.. and now with vendor search its basically useless.. to me anyway... i chose:
MAS/Master Smuggler/ Merchant 0004(lots of vendors and vendor room), 1 skill point left over after takeing 0401 marksman, (for the extra melee/ranged defense)

Brawler 4000
Marksman 0401
Master Armorsmith
Merchant 0002
Master Smuggler
My current template:
Master AS
Master DE
Pistoleer xxx4
Master Artisan (not I trade back and forthe between artisan and pistoleer as required)
Can't figure it out? heres a hint, two bracers from now and a couple more jetpacks, and I'll be trading DE for tailor ![]()
My current template is the classic self-sufficiency method:
Master Armorsmith
Master Artisan
Master Merchant
0300 Tailor
0040Marksman
In the distant (pre-CU) past, I combined Master Armorsmith & Master Artisan with Master Rifleman ... back then, I was able to PvP as an armorsmith, too. I suppose those days are long gone.

Thanks for the tip pyke
While I agree that global map is pointless now that we have vendor search, most people don't seem to get that...why? I have no idea. They still check the global map and start running around to vendors. Maybe they don't realize you can search for armor by listing all the backpacks and putting "armor" in the word search???
I have a guildmate that has a vehicle vendor. He prices his swoops at 30k. You can find swoops easily for 10k and for 5k in bulk. Yet, he still sells out all the time. People just go for the closest, fastest buy.
After I register on the map, maybe I'll use the SP on more artisan stuff...we'll see.
