Thread: What did they change?

Anyone have any idea if they...uhm...'tweaked' something in the last update with regards to our experimentation?

Here is why I ask...

Last Wednesday night (Prior to the update) I was making some schematics for a set of composite armor. I had the chest piece, pants, boots, helmet done and was running the factory making 80% kinetic/66% base comp chest, pants, boots, and helms.

Then I left for vacation.

Came back last night, logged in today (After DLing the update) and went back to create the schematics to finish my suit. Using identical materials, segments, etc. etc. and the identical allocation of experimentation points....I can't seem to get them up to where they were. I can't get over 79% Kinetic/65% base with the same stuff.

Out of 10 experimentation points...I'd always been putting 8 into base resists to fill the bar and run the experiment, that opens up one more bar in base for me to fill. So I'd put one more point there (9th point), then my LAST point would go into HAM....and that one final point would always 'bump' my resists up to 80% Kinetic/66% base. Doesn't seem to be working now. I tried it 3 times...same thing every time. I'm getting great success on each experiment and assembly...so that can't be it.

Was this some sort of 'bug' that they 'fixed'....where plopping your final point in HAM would get you a tad more resists that we weren't supposed to be getting? I'd always done it this way...read it on a FAQ from DocParnes on the swgcraft.com forums in his Layerology article.

Anyone know what is going on here?

Thanks!

Are you experimenting the last point in HAM alone? If you experiment both lines at once, the "bump" doesn't work. So you actually have to experiment 3 times: Base, Base, HAM.

Thanks for the response

Yup....exactly how you described is what I did...and always have done.

out of 10 points...

-8 points into the base fills theline the first experiment

-Then another bar in base 'opens' and I place the 9th point there to again fill the line for the second experiment. At this point...no more experimentation is possible on the base and my Kinetic is 79% and my base is 65%.

-The last point goes into Ham (Durability) and that last point...will 'pop' the Kinetic up to 80% and the base up to 66%.

However, since this last update...this isn't working any longer.

Anyone else experiencing this? Any idea whats going on?

with the same exact resources (and segments). last week I was easily able to make 80kin 80elec and 67 base. I then went and made a few more suits yesterday and was only getting 80kin 77elec and 65base. Keeping in mind great/amazing successes, I made 10 peices or so, with the max being 80/77/65. small changes, but still something? this and with ithorian defender changing, i do think something is affecting comp also. havent made anything else to compare before/after (ubese/padded/etc)

I started runs of cold-resist adv comp segments and just to be safe (even though I pretest by hand-made segments) I stopped a run to test out the segments in armor. I got 80% Cold and 70% base on a chest piece and gloves. So I start up the runs again, come back three days later when they're finished, and pull out a few crates to start grinding some schematics. Now I can only get 80% Cold/69% Base, even with a 7 point amazing success to start it off. I used to end up with 2 extra points for HAM where the first point would bump it up to 80% Cold. I truly think they did something early last week to crafting. I now have factories full of segments I can't use in my vendor armor (70% base is the competitive norm).

If this is true, I'm amazed that there isn't more people crying out. This is a major issue.

I'd be curious if anyone has any information on this as well?I've been hearing this sort of thing from some of my friends: "Sorry, not making armor for a bit until I find out if this change in the results I'm getting is a bug they introduced, or whether I was able to get those results because of a bug and now they just fixed it".

Several people I know are a bit ticked because they have "half finished suits". Some parts made before the change, some after.

Anyone know what happened? Was this bump a bug and they just fixed the bug and now the math is working as it should? Or...was it already working the way it should and they just introduced a bug?

I must admit, that i've noticed no difference yet myself, but perhaps i'm not as close to the "edge" of a % point for whatever change may have taken effect.

have you tried making a brand new crafting tool and used that (dunno why.. just in case!)

my 28% stun 70% base is now coming out 69% base on Chestplates and 68% on everything else. i as well am taking time off from armor crafting for this reason.

I had the same thing happen to me. i could make 80/80 kin with 70 base and now it only goes to 69 base and thats what i make with pve armor. also another factory run which had pve armor at 80's came out 78/79/79 68 base, while other pieces had the 3 80's 69 base. maybe this is part of the armor revamp? dunno but its not fun

I wish they'd just let us know one way or the other. Isn't that what the patch notes are about? It would have been nice to see a "Fixed armorcrafting bug" or even a 3 word line like that. Just something so that we know if this is a "Fix" ora "Bug".

I'm not sure whether to assume its a fixed 'bug' keep crafting and just accept the losses and write it up to another poor communication from the development team...or....to hold out and assume it was an introduced 'bug' that will be fixed soon.

Sheesh....I don't even know if something was working and was broken...or if it was something that was broken and was fixed.

Just checked with a handcrafted glove - did everything by hand - and I still get the 70% base I was expecting.... I see no difference.
