Thread: Armorsmith Want List

I did this one same as my Architect wishlist. Same rules, though I'm no admin or nothing, if you turn this to a flamewar only hurting yourselves, and me. hehe. Since this is a place to post your wishlists, and the correspondent/devs can see them all right in one list, instead of sorting billions of flame-filled threads.

Post any ideas you got here please. Keep it clear, if you need 2 sentences to explain what you're thinking, please do. Also..stealing ideas is not only ok, but feel free to take anything here and run with it. The more votes a feature gets, the more the devs will consider an idea, IF it's viable.

And final rule..>Keep things viable. If it sounds difficult to code, post it, it might have an easy workaround, or get popped on the to-do list for the space expansion, or the one after. If it sounds overpowered, or unbalancing, please don't bother. It won't get ingame regardless. If it MIGHT be unbalanced, but is still a good concept, post it. The devs can 'nerf' it till it fits in the game's boundaries.

and, above all, keep in mind the Devs are people too. If they post in this thread saying an idea isn't feasible, DON'T flame them, k? They have not only technical issues, but also they have several sets of bosses, ALL of whom need to agree on a concept before it can go live. And out correspondent, give him/her/it all the cooperation, understanding, and assistance you can manage. These people are not 'glory hounds' or 'butt kissers'. These are folks who have given up a good portion of their gaming time, and social life, to help the game devs make the game WE want to play...for NO PAY. These people deserve a hearty round of applause, and all the aid we can give. They're here for us, and to make our voices heard. Even if we don't always agree, remember they answer to the same higher ups as the dev team, as well as the confines of what the dev team themselves say they can implement.

oki. Here's my want list for the profession. Feel free to swipe/steal/alter anything, as it says, two heads are better than one...and 20 beats that

Advanced Composite should keep it's HAM encumbrances and stats, BUT should bump the armor up to Medium, and drop all resists 15% (to balance the raised value)

faction schematics should be available, but no trade, no drop items, like the free sunglasses. Only useable by whomever earns them. To help artisans, add faction crafting missions. Make them unlimited use though, like the RIS schematic. But have certain components only available by purchase from a faction recruiter (ie Imperial Carbonite Fiber Weave panels for ST armor)

More variety in all armors. All advanced segment should have 1 layer slot more than basic. Even advanced bone armor.

more color options, matching if possible (ahem..UBESE...)- coloring the bone parts of bone armor...coloring the metallic parts of composite (I'd LOVE to have crimson and bronze composite).

Add a visor to the Mabari armor, or allow the sunglasses to be worn with them, same as they are with Swoop helms. Or add in craftable helm visors, made of gemstone, by tailors. These wouldn't be attached, and would use tailor enhancements, not armorsmith. Why tailors? Give them another item of use to players who wear armor 24/7 and also, these items would take the same abuse as armor, so would be steadily replaced, providing income. Could have a few styles, including one resembling the dust mask of an ATV helmet, one like the goggles of the X_Wing helms, and another bearing a passing resemblance to Vader's mask, just something cool and badazz looking, just because.

Redesign the Padded armor helmet. A few suggestions- a SAS/SWAT style ski mask. A middle-eastern styled domed helm with a padded cloth drape over the back of the head and/or veil. A 'baseball cap' with cloth over the back of the head, and visor. same design as now, with facemask over mouth/nose or a clear visor over eyes/nose.

Allow master armorsmiths to craft Enhanced Layers. these would use any fieldwear BE mod item, would be added to an armor segment during crafting, and when added to armor would allow the armor to have the benefit of that item. Each would require RFP with a BE mod in it in order to craft, keeping tailors in the loop as well.

Add more armor types. Instead of just ranting for types we all know we want (Faction Armor. Mandalorian) I'll offer some NEW suggestions the dev team/player base might like to see.

Opps. That enter key stuck on me yet again. ANYHOW..Here is the new armor ideas I've had.

A samurai-styled armor, bulky looking, but lightweight, made from wood and fiber panels. Would get it at one level above chitin, it would have comparable kinetic defense, with less HAM encumbrance. Advanced would be comparable to Ubese in kinetic protection, and much less in HAM, but would take exotic woods like Talusian Deciduous (Deciduous would be best, as these trees- Oak, Maple, etc are known for toughness). As a tradeoff, would have Heat as a vulnerability (umm..wooden=flammable) and would have ONLY kinetic as a special protection, with stun/energy/entangle as secondaries.

A new type of Mesh Woven armor. It would be crafted in ONE peice, worn like a bodysuit. It would cover hands and feet, and head would be covered except for face, similar to a wetsuit. It would be made at the same level as padded, it would have NO base defenses or vulnerabilities. It would take 5 identical segments from a factory crate, and protections would be gained entirely from layers, making protection fairly low, but HAM costs would be negligible. Perhaps make this a novice armorsmith item, to give them a marketable type of armor. Anything that can be worn over a tactical skinsuit could be worn over this armor, adding a bit of additional defense. The graphic for it could be a more hi-tech looking skinsuit of tactical suit.

A new type of specialized Hunter armor. It would offer a bonus to maskscent/camoflauge, but would require BE components to craft. It would be made of scout/ranger harvested components almost exclusively- hides, bones, plus some wood. The appearance would have an animal-like headpeice, similar to the Set mask from Stargate, though would look like a gurreck or something similar, and would be open faced, not made to disguise the wearer as the animal. The entire suit would have shoulderpeices resemblign jagged broken tree branches, etc, and the palette would be camoflauge only, in various planet shades. This armor would have a high acid/kinetic resistance, to protect from most any creature attack, but would have low stats in Energy/etc.

A powered combat EV suit. It could be master made, would take 2 advanced droid motive systems from a factory crate, and 2 factory made manipulator arms. This armor would protect from kinetic/blast/heat/cold/acid/energy- covering the most common damage types. The benefit it would have over composite, is that it would have near zero encumbrance, as the motors would actually allow it to move. However, you would need to feed it a droid battery every 10 minutes of use, or it would suddenly have MASSIVE ham encumbrance. It would have protection slightly less than composite, but still good enough if well made to be a viable alternative to those who can't wear composite, or just want armor that won't require massive buffing to put on. It would also require droid vitality kits to repair, instead of armor repair kits, and would be one single, very expensive peice, so if it's damaged or destroyed you lose the whole deal.

A blended armor mesh panelitem. this would be used by tailors, not armorsmiths. It would take 2 factory made RFP, and 2 factory made layers of any type. When assembled, this item could be used in place of RFP to actually make clothing with some degree of protection. These items would have a mere 30% resist cap, and would still count as no armor (AR0), but with a max HAM cost of only 25 per stat. It could be used in any fieldwear and would let Tailors get in on the combat market, without bumping in on the armorsmith market. this would appeal most likely to folks who dislike the high ham of armor, but want something so Kreetles and such aren't mangling them continually, without slowing them down too much.

Fieldmedics Armor. This suit would be many peices, each would take factory made RFP enhanced with med use BE mods, or something similar. It would enhance the range of healing for combat medics, and would enhance the effectiveness of healing rolls for doctors, medics, or combat medics. It would have moderate protection in most stats, to keep the medics on their feet, with considerably less HAM than composite, again, so medics can heal continually. It would be specifically made with very low Mind encumbrance, making it also excellent for riflemen, surveyors, or anyone else who uses a lot of Mind stat. As a trade off, ir would lower your chance to hit in combat by 20%, as the medical diagnostic display in the visor, and the stim enhancer modules in the arms and back would make it somewhat awkward to move in quickly, giving it a faily high action encumbrance.

New lightweight versions of both Padded and Composite..new textures, likely same meshes. these would provide roughly half the HAM costs, and 2/3 the resistances, but at an increased cost in materials.

Note that, in all these ideas, I made sure to do my best to balance out positive and negative bonuses. Any armor with skill enhancers, has additional HAM costs, or steep BE required items, or both. I also tried to tie in as many cross-class armors as possible. Why? because A- The devs LOVE cross class dependent items. Especially when they add aid for classes such as Bio Engineers and Tailors and Droid Engineers that need a bit more income of late. I also included my ideas of just what these items would do, so the Devs could actually look at it, if they like it, print it, make changes, and show it all ready to the higher ups, for approval or changes. Do I think ANY of this will make it in game? I certainly hope so, and it would be a wonderful thing for me, just because of the cool factor, getting to wear something I originally thought up. In likelihood though..It's not that likely. But maybe one or two of these ideas might click in the devs head, and sortof think 'wow..that's a cool idea' or spawn a better idea from them, and give us a little something more for our rather limited class. Also note, I went to great pains to create items of varying levels. To try and bring more appeal to lower level armorsmith items, including the Ranger armor that would be possible to trade materials for assembly, with a few K tossed in for enhancers and such. A great boon for novice armorsmiths. Also such items as the 1 peice bodysuit, easier to assemble for novices, and it would use ONLY composites and harvested materials, making it easier for armorsmiths grinding to keep up on resources, and to produce sellable items as a novice. It would also require tailor items, giving tailors another source of sales. Plus the samurai inspired suit. This one isn't very original, but, with all the curved swords, polearms, etc in the game...it's a natural idea. It could be a low-level armorsmith item, using wood and fiberplast instead of bones and hides, allowing it to be made much easier than the harvest-intensive chitin and bone armors, and because of it's cool appearance and low HAM costs, would attract melee fighters by the dozens. If anyone else has other ideas, please toss them into the ring. Let's show the correspondent what it is we want for additions, witout the flames and arguing, help them do their job, since their job is making the game better for us

Would like armoursmith crafting aprons like the chefs etc have

Agree we should get faction armour

Increase in drops for the RIS loots

Want more frequent shifts of quality resources, as it prejudices new armoursmiths terribly.

Agree BE mod armour would be nice, i would love anti-knockdown for my poor old TKM alt

Masen,

Still reading your post, but had to say, for the mesh woven armor. You say possibly make it a novice armorsmith item, but since the protections come solely from layers it kind of defeats the purpose. It seems it should be in with Tantel, maybe, since tantel is shifting.

I like a lot of the idea posted above. I'd also like to see some new armors that rival composite.

Also, I'd like to see some armor setups that benefitted specific classes. Like Commando armor, pistoleer armor, fencer armor, etc..

AlsoI think a revamp of the whole power-up system needs to be looked into. It is not clear what armor has power-ups and how to use them. We have skill tapes and segments and all these different pieces and its not very clear what can go where, especially for our clients who aren't armorsmiths by proffession. Everything that can go into a socket should be called a power-up. Everything that can be used to enhance a crafted segment should be called ashard (or something similar). These items need different artwork to make them look different from other pieces. Power ups and shards should not use the same art as hide containers and crafted armor segments. It adds a level of confusion to an already complex system. In this way if you want to power up your armor you drop a power-up into a segment. If you want to make better base armor you add a shard to the segment.

Awsome post Masen. /agree 100%
Tho I dont think that the Devs would allow the BE armor stuff. Remember that it was enabled as a bug that few knew about. I think I still have a suit of melee defense composite, and a suit of composite with mask scent/camoflage in one of my various storage facilities. Just dont want to attempt repairing it till we get better odds of repairing armor.

As for Herms post about frequent shifts of armor materials, I feel your pain. I can make high quality composite. That's it. Could probably do PSGs but they suck since the stat shift bug. Radiant recently had some decent Kiirium steel, and Colat Iron. but locating the resources for the rest, like Ubese have been quite challenging. I can make the stuff, but the resists suck on it. I turn away customers that want the stuff, cause I wont put my name on the armor if I wouldnt wear it myself in combat.

GIVE RADIANT GOOD QUALITY AXIDITE IRON! ok. that's my wish for today.

Okay, I noticed someone mentioned my suit as not being for novice, I'd like to change my thoughts there. Actually, it should be granted at LAYERS 1. It doesn't use traditional armorsmithing techniques, which is why I didn't stick it there, but I do think it's a bit silly to slap it in novice, when they have no layers to put in it. Thanks for pointing that out, hehe. That's why I made this thread, keep the info coming. And the requests to fix the alternating armor stats, keep those coming too. Let the higher ups know that's something that's needed and wanted

I did have a few more ideas here though. Allow PSGs to protect from 100 hits, flat. No more no less, but instead of being useless after, how about they take droid batteries to recharge? It could be more or less hits, whatever balance needs. Alternately could take novice armorsmith shield batteries, giving novices something to grind, slap in a vendor, and make a few credits while they grind to master.

and BE armor, perhaps only the chest plate would be allowed to have boosts. So, someone in chitin doesn't have a massive boost to melee defense, making the armor more effective than ubese, which would have less slots. Or just ignore that idea, though I would love to see some class-specialized armor in game, with focuses on various character types. Could focus these items on the neglected classes perhaps, such as ranger, to give players of these classes a little something extra.

and things to fix on existing armor I'd like to see, are more palette options on Ubese. it should use the cloth palette for all the fabric parts, and the metal palette for the metals. Keep it simple so we can match up suits, and I can't count the requests for blood red ubese, or pure white, or dark blue..and I have to give them a faded, washed out look. Just because the armor was dirty and faded in the film doesn't mean I'm gonna make it that way out of the shop

Make the faceplate of Tantel colorable, use the leather palette or something. That bright white, when trying to make a dark, intimidating suit for a novice BH that wants a different look isn't easy. It looks best with bright colors, simply because of the uncolorable parts being fixed at one color.

But please PLEASE fix the shifting tantel and psg stats? I'm probably one of the few who love the design of the tantel, I only wish it was more customizeable, and that it didn't flux all over the place stat-wise, and would just stay put. Also...Make Tantel take SIMILAR items not factory made? it's practically a novice armor, and should be much easier to produce than it is. Plus, the whole thing has that patchwork look, it doesn't look like it was made in a factory..it looks like it was slapped together from spare parts.

I was thinking about this last night while watching episode II. The scence were Jango Fett shots the bounty hunter with the poision dart. Why not add some weapons to composite bracers for use by bounty hunters only. How it is now everyone wears composite, give the bounty hunters something to be distictive. I think A flame thrower, posion darts, and some type of trap(i.e. a scouting trap) could be the first weapons to add. I think that Master bounty hunters should be the only ones to equip these items. Other than that I wish they would fix the shifting protections bug.

more limited use schematics.

tailors just got 6. they are 4 aprons, a backpack 9`(very nice I have one), and a leotard. Life all of the sudden was good for tailors, first time in a long time, good work devs.

wepaonsmiths got E11, featherwieght fwg, modified republic blaster, the new dxr6 genoshian rifle, and now the scythe schematics are floating around (at least 5 new ones), always nice to see new weapons around, also good work devs.

we got one new one, the imp psg, and it is bugged like the other psgs. (2 if you count the RIS segment with extra layer)

so....I propose more limited use schmatics, how about individual pieces of armor that give resists. The new backpack gives ranged and melee defense, why not have us make a belt (like the padded belt can have resists) that gives resistance to knockdown, or dizzy?

how about some new armored gloves with a bonus to something (defense to stun, knockdown, anything), some boots, a chest plate, anything.

make some static quests that anyone can do once, like the psg quest, dont announce it dont advertise it just let people start figuring it out, and let them start appearing.

The last time Radiant got decent Axidite Iron was back in Oct-Nov'03. OQ+SR=approx 1400.
We're due for a nice shift of this soon. *crosses fingers also*

Before we get new armor, I think we should fix the existing armors. Although, new armors would be *GREAT*, the stat shifting bug has put PSG production at a standstill which doesn't help our armorless Wookie friends...

My wish list- FIX THE STAT SHIFTING BUG!

I would like some sort of system that would allow me to quickly and easily find out where all my resources and items are,an email inventory might be good. Not every smith would find this useful but if you are a mass production smith and have lots of factories and resources it can be difficult to keep track.

I would also like some hired help.Maybe a droid thatI could program with schematics and it could go find the resources from my stores andput them in factories. Not just being lazy here, I have lots of other jobs that I need to do to keepmy vendor stocked with high quality gear and I find I just don't have enough time for it all

I like all of your ideas masen 5stars for u!

Ideally i'd like to see another high armour class, armour which will provide a difference from the compo gang. Perhaps a similar armour 2layers energy special protection and 30-40% base pretty high enc too, good for faction missions.

(Perhaps just make a 2 layerTantel Schem, its meant to beancient armour,so why not make a neat quest for knowledge looking how to enhance it)

Anyway I'm just hoping devs read your ideas, obiously PSGs will remain buggedfor a bit while they are attempting to sort it out, and modelling new armour is difficult but I think the tantel idea could be implemented pretty quickly and your "jumpsuit" armour is genius and would only need a little modifcation.ESPECIALLY if it allows novice AS to make something which would have good demand

My main wishtho... DON'T NERF CRAFTING!!
