Thread: PSG experimentation
this is the shifting stats bug. PSG's, tantel armor, and RIS armor share this bug, in which the resists will randomly change on the armor anytime you log, travel in a shuttle, or cross a server boundry. It has been know for months. No fix in sight. you are not alone in your frusteration. The only workaround is to carry 5 or 6 with you at all times and hope that one of them will have the resistance you need when you engage in combat, although when you get aggroed by a rancor you really dont have enough time to open our inventory and examine 5 or 6 items before you are poounded into the earth.
Well if you are talking abou them when you craft them, I know what you mean. When I am trying to make a schematic, I can spend hours using the best resouces (and the standard factory crate sub components) and I get the exact same resist, time after time. Always missing heat, kinetic and stun or some other consistant set of vulnerabilities. Not knowing if the shift is dependent on the schematic or not, I always try to get a schematic with no vulnerabilities, just to do all that I can.
I try different station, tools crossing boundries, different houses, crafting different items......
What I have found to work is using different resouces(switch up the iron, steel, or ore on the MKIII's) when I make them, and I think experiment on that as well. The next craft (regardless of station or tool) will have random vulnerabilities. Sometimes I get the set I like.
Now I have no idea if this is intended or not, or part of the bug or not.
Anyone else see this.
BTW, this shifting issue, and the lack of attention or even acknowledgement of it on SOE's part is the most frustrating thing for me in this game. It is only a matter of time until that alone makes me cancle. (Well that and waiting for a shuttle, who's idea was that, or is that just a plot to make us buy the space expansion?)
Stacks well with any armour which is a big advantage!
I get hit for 1000 kinetic:
PSG Light armour drops it to 500
PSG 51% resist drops it to about 250
Compo Light armour rating drops to 125
Compo 80% resist drops it to 25 damage!
It's quite funny to see the look on a Master TKA's face when charging wompa or whatever it's called is hitting you in the 50-70's...

Thanks for the tip Tunturi, I think I will do the same thing.
I tried the few PSG's I made with my composite armor against some war grondas (over lunch)and was impressed by the amount of damage the combination stopped. I was equally distressed to see how fast they were eaten up (which I know is inherent in their design).I triedequiping the mk3 and unequipping it while being beat up and noticed a considerable difference in the amount of damage I was taking. Just having another layer of "armor" that weapons/creatures need to pierce through seems to be the value in these things.
btw, what do you sell yours for?
An update to #1 and #3 - both are in the 900's.
Are those Imperial prototype psg's a looted schematic?
